I've been following the threads on 2k forums for a while, the statement by 2k Elizabeth posted by Ch3t there is incorrect. A number of people have tried that method (after having problems with the game, uninstalling/reinstalling) and it doesn't work. Also, steam doesn't fix this at all - it has the same securom layer protection as the standard boxed retail version too.

Tris, even if it did work as intended the point is these anti-piracy measures don't work. Bioshock will still be pirated, just as much as all the others. The result is people paying suffer with this crap while people who download it free of charge play it without any hassles at all.

I've cancelled my pre-order. I want to give them my money, they deserve it as the game looks epic, but I won't be buying until some sort of adequate solution is provided.

It doesnt work nath? The people I saw trying it had not uninstalled their previous installs before trying the next install -although I did not read the other threads on the subject. The only issue I saw was the fact that the securom servers could not always be connected too.

I remember the same hoo haa over steam when it started up, everyone was moaning like hell at the auth system.

It is not ideal, but I can see why 2k have introduced this system, even if they have not correctly gauged the response from the gaming community.

Nope, numerous reports that the uninstall to get an installation credit back doesn't work.

I can see WHY they did it, they wanted to combat piracy, that's obvious. What also should have been PATENTLY obvious is that they wouldn't be able to and so all this DRM bullshit would do is piss people off. As it has done in droves. What's worse, it's also lost them a fair bit of business.

<installing Bioshock now /happy>

As for Blue Dragon, demo was fun for me (Not uber but worth getting type of fun). Only thing is please say you can skip the 'avatar attacks' or speed them up in full version. MAKING you watch the same attack 100's of times through a game was fine in the days of FF7 but i expect more now and id probably end up throwing the disc into a wall after a few hours.

Might seem like a minor point but to me its a decider.

I wouldn't bother with the whole hassle of a CE because alot of people are opening their CE to find the Big Daddy drill arm snapped off lol

You could just walk into GAME tomorrow my one in Nottingham has stacks of them all piled up ready for the morning.

Fair enough, isnt much spoiled apart from how awesome big daddies are :D

Not much i can say others havnt really. Story is fairly linear but levels are hugely open ended, graphics are great, combat is dynamic etc. Fits together so well. Hacking is irksome at times (Like when its IMPOSSIBLE to complete a hack) and is probably my only gripe.

Ah, I was under the impression that the uk activation servers wouldn't work until tomorrow.

Glad you got it activated successfully - tonnes of people have not been so lucky.

I can't believe people are making such a fuss over the DRM :/ Who has a need to install it 3 times in such a short period?

My X360 CE arrived this morning must say I'm very impressed with the quality of the Big Daddy model :)

Sadly the soundtrack (3 tracks by Moby?!), and the Making Of... DVD were lacking in content and quality :(

The fact is it's a restriction put in place to stop pirating of the game, which it won't. I don't like that restriction, I don't want it on a game that I've paid for and the fact that I know I can play the game hassle free if I pirate it means that there's little incentive to go and pay for it.

I always knew I'd be able to pirate it with no hassle whatsoever, mere days after the release - I decided to pre-order it because the demo wow'ed me and I feel innovative games design like this should be rewarded. However, when people downloading it get a better experience than me because I paid for it I say no thanks, fuck off.

I've cancelled my pre-order and I'll be happy to buy it when they sort out this fiasco.

Not really the only people who will do it are people like Nath who download games anyway.

Not that i am saying Nath has downloaded it already.

That's not actually the case. I haven't downloaded it, I had it pre-ordered and cancelled it. If you pay a visit to the 2k forums you'll see countless other people have cancelled their orders too. Whether they download the pirate version is irrelevant, the fact is everyone knows it'll be available to pirate so the DRM serves only to frustrate paying customers. I don't fancy paying to be frustrated so I'll wait and see if they fix it or not.

In its current state I won't be buying the game, though I was at one point happy to. Whether I pirate it or not remains to be seen.

You have a 360 right? so why not just get it for that?

Get over the mouse/kb stuff and enjoy the game.

Having played the demo on both, I don't want to get over the mouse/kb thing - it makes a significant difference to play style. I just don't like FPS's on the xbox and when there's a choice, it'll always be PC. Besides, I hear the x360 version isn't exactly bug free.

Bugs aside, you could always invest in one of these Nath XCM

That's probably going to be my choice going forward as it will cost less for one of these gadgets, than it will to bring my PC up to the spec that will give me the same visuals as my 360.

Problem is, I have a pc with a high enough spec to play bioshock and crysis so I'm not so keen to start moving things over to the xbox. Plus my x360 is only hooked up to my projector so when I want to play it it's a bit of an event. With the pc, I can play on the projector or if I just want a quick game I can play on the lcd too.

XCM looks good though.

vga adaptor for your 360 nath? It's cheaper than having to upgrade your pc in 6 months for the next best thing.

Maybe at some point - I'd need a damn long vga cable for it though.

Anyway, I'm happy with my set up as is, don't really fancy fiddling with shit just to get one game working. There's still no cracked & working version of Bioshock available so kudos to them for holding off the hackers so far. However if they *never* hack it and it's retail or nothing, it'll be nothing for me. I'm not installing that shit on my system. Might eventually go for the 360 version, but we'll see what happens.

The game so far is superb.

The atmosphere totally sucks you in to the game and makes you all the more wanting to find out just what the hell happened to this nut house.

Haven't seen any bugs so far but then i don't go looking for bugs either so i will probably never see them.

Have started on hard and the big daddies keep owning me.
