you wont see much spam from the pure tanks (shield) as they arent designed for dmg imo offensive champs > offensive heros defensive heros > defensive champs well thats just statin the obvious rly but id say top tanks from expereicnce would be-

mid: hmmmm <thinks> dunno tbh dont see that many solo mid tanks around so hard to tell
edit: this is more dmg taker/absorber tanks than dmg dealing ones as they almost a different class imo hehe

For PvE, in my experience it was Rild Ravenflight the Thane, now known as Cami the shadowblade (sellout!).

other than that Xanatea and Draup. Only tank from other realms i ever noticed by name is Soulfly ~~~~

Oh and Caliban is of teh brave paladin, but thats another (quite funny) story.

its been a while since i've went rvr.......or played at all

but in the old days the best tanks used to be

Hibernia:
Locomo (helped defend me when i was being one shotted by everyone! )
Malevolencia (after seeing her in action i was in awe)
Bfr (teamed with him a few times and he'd always be the last one left in the 8 man group)

Midgard:
Solid (gimpy thane who always came back for more! )
(didn't really know many mids, just a mass that would wash over me)

Albion:
Vincible (don't even know if he plays anymore, but meeting him in upplands and taking on 5 mids kinda makes u think highly of that guy)
Soulfly (goes without saying)
Jadow (yeah he was an inf, yet i've never seen anyone do more damage or die less then that guy, and i know he was an inf)

so theres my list of the tank like people who i felt were the nicest or just best
