As many may know my strife for along time has been to get a job/placement within the industry.. and after a long search spanning well over a year I've finally got one..

YES a motherfucking job! Got a course to attend next week then start the following monday.

Accountancy firm, basic number crunching work but it's a start and a nice earner at £12k/year.

May not be what I wish to do forever, but damn happy to get started

I was thinking it seems a bit low as well. I got £17kp/a for basic admin work about 5 years ago, and that was local government not private where the wages are always lower.

Shit, beats earning nothing and I still am getting my loans on top of that so it round about to 16k.. so nothing to shabby.

Yeah that's a good idea. Is it full time though? Are you actually going to have time to do work? I worked full time for the latter part of my 3rd year out of necessity and believe me it had a big impact on my exam and dissertation results.

It's fulltime, no uni work at all for this year. There is an offer for a 2-day part time if I choose to in my 3rd (technically 4th) year. Last year lack of motivation killed my results, spent more time getting smashed and hanging with gf/mates to entirely be arsed to do work, the only time I was motivated was when I was in work.. so all for the best.

I lived off 12k a year for 4 years out of uni. It's possible but there's no discernible difference between that and being a student.

It was. Probably isn't now unless you're not paying rent. Unless of course you live somewhere stupid up North where houses cost £4.50 and 10p/m to rent.

In the town my dad grew up in, Abertillery in south Wales, you can buy a 4 bed terraced house for around £120k. It's said to have the cheapest property prices in the UK. It's an absolute shite hole mind.

Back at Copley there used to be designated smoking booths outside the entrance. Wanking booths would work fine I'm sure.
