Well that's annoying. I had intended to say "They don't think THAT at all", quite a different meaning.

My mother is a Witness and my father converted not long before he died. They believe mankind has been on the earth for 6,000 years, not that the earth itself is 6,000 years old - the Bible simply says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth", it takes place before the 'creative days'.

A lot of what the Witnesses teach makes sense to me, much more sense than the majority of Christian religions. The trinity makes no sense to me, belief in pre-destination makes even less sense to me. The slavish following of the Watchtower Society seems dangerous to me though, and it appears to take the place of God in the eyes of some Witnesses.

But they live their faith, unlike so many people who claim to have a religion, or the priests etc who pass their examinations but don't even believe in God or that the Bible is God's word. Those people should find another job....
