Any of you know if there's a widget to add googlemail to a home screen? I have got the mail widget on there but it only seems to like my hotmail account for some reason.

You need to add your googlemail settings up through the mail widget, rather than use the gmail app.

very very generally, I suppose you could say that IMAP leaves the mail on the server and POP doesnt?

I always prefer IMAP because of the read/unread flags and sent email being stored on the server, instead of being stored per-client (well, Android mail annoyingly doesn't put sent items into the IMAP sent, but a local folder, meh). If I read a new email on my phone, I don't want to get home and see that same email unread. :D

Mine doesn't do that. Mine is all synced. Even my draft e-mails are synced...

I use IMAP too, just a shame that Outlook 2007 (and 2010 a bit) is gay.

If I use IMAP for my mail accounts, will it leave unread copies on the server? I need this as I like to have my mail collected at home and work as well as on the phone.

The mail will be there. If you don't read the email, it'll be seen as unread on whichever client you open next. If you read it, it'll be marked as read for every client that sees it.

Anyone tried any of the emulators on their android phone yet? The Snes one is meant to be quite good.

Anyone suggest a decent diary application for Android ?

I've been long considering replacing my aged Palm Tungsten, but I really like the Palm diary application and the ability to fully synchronise both ways between PDA and PC. I'd realise that it means having new diary software on both Android and Windows, so it's a long shot.

Anything out there yet ?

Google calendar + google calendar?

It syncs automatically between net and phone and therefore also your pc?

I'm using the inbuilt Sense based calendar from the Hero, that syncs to Google Calendar and I use Google Calendar Sync to sync that to my Outlook. Works perfectly, if I'm out at a clients and arrange a new appointment I'll pop it in my phone, it's in Outlook by the time I get home.

Not really an app as such but great site to use instead of installing apps:

Mippin

Also if you have Android 2.2 you may want this:
The 'Google Chrome to phone' application...

Click a button on your PC and it sends it through the cloud and launches it on your Nexus One ie launch a website...saves you typing it into the phone!

Why would you use your phone to look at a site when you are clearly in front of your PC?

Send links to bookmark for later, send a URL to the phone for it to download something instead of inputting a full location (eg. video/podcast).

Can anyone recommend a good Ebay app, for bidding etc?

While I'm at it, if you fancy a bit of camera fun "Camera 360" is excellent. Its Lomo mode is great fun.

myPlayer is a decent alternative for watching the iPlayer now that beebplayer has been removed from the market.

A friend couldn't find it on the market on his Nexus One for some odd reason, so you might have to go hunting around for an .apk file. It's probably worth getting before the BBC demand that the app is taken down.
