Since the update on my Galaxy Tab 2, my tablet has been running like shit, the responsiveness from it is none existant. Bit peeved. My phone seems okay though...

Just replaced Google Chrome with Next Browser. Its a lot smoother and faster, can import bookmarks from Google Chrome, has built in google search and voice search, has a RSS feed section, extension support etc. If I had to describe it, its a combo of Google Chrome and Dolphin without all the slowness.

Anyone know how to disable the gap between audio files when playing them through ES File Explorer's excellent music player? Trying to listen to Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond is ridiculously bittersweet when it's fucked over by 2 second gaps at the end of each track

Can't remember who put up ES File Explorer as a suggestion btw - it's fucking excellent. :)

Scouse I have found this annoying gap on several music apps. Really starting to piss me off. WinAMP says the paid version of the app removes this (can't remember where I read this) but I am hesitant to buy it. I think it seems weird all the apps I try suffer the same fate. Never had this problem when using the iPhone lol

A mate was saying he was pissing around in the android API the other day and there wasn't an obvious way to turn it off.

I think it's a basic of any music player tbfh.

Same with repeating the playlist, which surprisingly few free Android players can/will do (in my experience). Rocket does everything I want of it.

Google Music does gapless, I believe you need Android 4.1+ for the API that allows it.

I think Poweramp does gapless but its a paid app. I think you can get a free 2 week trial though if you want to try it out.

Edit: Just checked paid version has gapless options.

Ta, but I do love ES File Explorer. It'd be a pain in the ass to have to open shit up in something else.

You open music files in ES? Seems a bit of a faff, most music players have a library they add tunes to automatically?

I know the Walkman player on this does
Oh and it does gapless out of the box :)

I tend to have a lot of stuff that changes all the time that I hold locally and some stuff on my PC upstairs which I occasionally connect to. Lan on/off all the time.

ES File Explorer lets me decide on an album, select all, play. Job done. And I don't have to faff about with multiple apps clogging up the phone. It's very convenient.

I used poweramp (and still do on my tablet) and that plays fine with no gaps. I'm using the walkman player on my new phone, seems as good or better in the areas I use. I'd definitely recommend paying for poweramp though, it's a damn good player all around.

This may have already been covered but I just found out AdBlockPlus works on Android you just have to add a fake proxy server and bye bye adverts. Very impressed.

Yeah it works one of two ways, root and it takes care of everything directly or non-root you add a proxy to each WiFi setting you have to get it sorted. The only downside of the non-root is if you were to close AdBlock by accident (or it crashes) the proxy disappears so it can make it seem as though your wifi is down.

And massive change! Hugely faster, and better looking. Glad Samsung bothered with another update to this device, I can't root as I've got apps that won't run on a rooted phone.

Sky go, sky+, Barclays mobile banking and Barclays ping it.

Only downside of the upgrade was a forced upgrade if my Google maps. On shitty version 7 now.

Looks like Samsung only bothered upgrading to ensure compatibility with the gear.

When they stop just switch to CyanogenMod as you'll get the best of both

Not what it seems to indicate on XDA fella. They suggest that the barclays app monitors the number of times the handset has been flashed as well as root. Have a shufty.

I have CyanogenMod on my S2 from 4.1.2 to 4.3 and it is fantastic. Very fast and smooth. If I get a S5 I will eventually put CyanogenMod on it.

Is your GPS working? I went up to 4.3 as soon as they released a stable one but it made my screen go all glitchy in Dolphin, among other apps. So I rolled back to 4.2.2 (CM 10.1) and all was fine, apart from GPS. I know they've fixed it in later versions (mine is from August).

Superbeam - excellent app to wirelessly transfer stuff between your devices

Neon Flow - very addictive simple game

Notepad Lite - very simple notepad that converts speech to text. Uses Google voice recognition and is very accurate*. Stores your notes under various categories.

*For best accuracy speak in a slight American accent.

Piano For You - the best piano keyboard I've tried so far

Total Recall - awesome phone call recording app

SD Maid - essential if you're rooted
