You make new social groups, perhaps not so feral. There is plenty of work done my immigrants, completely legal immigrants. Poles and Romanians doing low level jobs, and doing very well for themselves, they put the work in
100%. I've said this. It's economically viable - work in Blighty, a lot of them bought big houses back home in a matter of years. And they work hard.

But at the same time it suppresses wages in the UK - which makes it harder for UK based people. And people need to live, and with more people house prices and rental values go up...

I'm not taking a moral position. Just making the point on where effects are felt.

Dry day spills will almost always be deliberate and illegal...The huge increase in a much drier year appears to show that water companies have quotas of sewage to dump and will do whatever the weather, and whatever the risk to the public and the environment. Making money is the primary focus. This level of criminality shows that water companies do not believe [regulators], or the government, will ever do anything meaningful to stop them

If Burnham fixed this, actually fixed it, I'd vote Labour next time round.

By fix, I mean create meaningful legislation that puts severe and effective criminal sanctions on water companies that forces compliance within a short time-bound period. Not looking at nationalisation - which carries significant risk that government will simply hide the problem again. More light. No self-reporting. Proper regulation.
