Reports of his demise have often been exaggerated, but if he's sacked at the start of the World Cup I'd suggest the decision was made some time ago. As a fan I'm not too fussed about him either way. Maybe some fresh ideas will keep us up, but a change of management isn't going to make our strikers stop missing sitters or our defenders making stupid decisions. I'm not an XG merchant but today we lost 4-1 and our XG was 1.7 and Newcastle's was 0.8 which is shocking.

Who was the last stable manager that you had? Puel?

I don't think it was Pochettino as I don't think he was there for long if I recall?

Then again I don't remember many Southampton managers staying as long as Hasenhuttl.

I think Adkins was their longest serving manager in the last 10-15 years after Hasenhuttl. Poch was only there for like a season, Koeman a bit longer, I don't know about the others.

Edit - looking at this, I completely forgot that Mark Hughes managed them.

Puel wasn't stable lol. Not had a manager for more than a couple of years since Adkins and he wasn't there much longer. Probably Strachan before that.

So, our B Team is fucking shocking. Our A Team doesn't fare much better mind.

It wasn't an important match tonight, but as of the league I didn't see how perilously close we are once more to the bottom 3

Baffling, yet predictable England squad. Good to see 14 minutes playtime in the season is reason enough to get a spot though! (Phillips)

My England expectations are low, and I've got to be honest, I don't think I'm going to be watching much; a sort of non-committal, half-assed boycott of the tournament.

64 years since Wales were last at a World Cup, probably be 64 years til they are again. I'll be watching some of it, at least.

Surprised at the inclusion of Maguire & Phillips, but I guess I shouldn't be, it's Southgate. I'll be following Wales anyway. I think there is more of a chance we get out the group than England do given England's recent performances.

Selected Dier to play on the left instead, not sure what's worse.

If only he was still playing for Leicester they would have actually had to think about putting him in the squad.

I'm taking great joy in Chelsea's failure as I have been telling my pals that Potter is overrated for years. Imo he underachieved at Brighton given how much money they were always throwing about.

Some managers just do well at a certain level. Potter was good at Brighton, poor at top level. Same as Moyes, with West Ham vs UTD.

Well we look absolutely buggered. Our B Team got humbled in the week and our A Team got beaten just as bad.

When i looked at the team sheet before the match, I thought that has to absolutely be the strongest team we have to field - and for them to just get rolled over is shocking.

We have Wolves after the World Cup, who are on the bottom... Somehow I see us being turned over. They still don't handle pressure.

The only thing I'm thankful for is hopefully after the World Cup, the transfer window reopens. Unless because of this they're postponing reopening of the window until the summer?

Still, I'm sure we're close to being in breach of FFP again so that might be a false dawn. I can't lay this down completely to Lampard, he's made some decent signings but some fails as well... But judging by yesterday, the fans may be close to turning again.

Signs that Lampard was turning it around a bit early in the season have disappeared very quickly. If I was in charge of Everton I'd be looking at Mick Beale before someone else goes in for him.
