Anyone know where the "word" ZERG come from?

We all use this word daily, and we all know what it means.
But where does it come from? Let the search begin, Sherlocks!

Zerg... hehe, always hated them I was a Protoss player myself!

Anyways, zerg comes from StarCraft - a rts made by Blizzard Entertainment. It's rather old now, but anyways; the Zerg is a race whose strength is largely based on numbers. Small, vulnerable and cheap units - but in large enough amounts to kill of practically anything outsizing them

Zerglings.... every time you buy zerglings you get two, whereas you naturally only get 1 Hydralisk, Mutalisk or Ultralisk for each larvae you morph That's why people refer to the large amounts of warders as Zerglings, ie. you kill one two more pop until you die

While on the subject where did the term 'Nerf' come from? As far as i know Nerf is a company that makes those guns that fire though foam dart things (used to have one, they kicked ass )

it was from uo (first mmorpg, discounting crappy MUDS which only geeks used), where after a swordfighting damage reduction players said it was like swinging "nerf bats", since a company called nerf make a foam bat called a nerf bat.
