I first saw DAoC while over at my cousin's place (Whitemen/Reavaah), and checked a number of stores to look for it, and eventually did, early june or july 2002 (I can't remember the month, it was the first week of summer holiday anyway). My first char wasn't all that, as it was a fighter that didn't get beyond level 4 :p The next day I rolled my mercenary, and it wasn't for several days after that that I got explained how to use quickbars and styles and such (yup, not really bright).
Some time later (around level 5-10), I joined Order of Bahamut along with my cousin and a bunch of old Dutch players, the same that later on founded Forgotten Legends. I leveled all over the place and stayed in OoB until lvl 39 or so, and then left them as the guild had gone inactive while I played hib/excal.
After leaving OoB I joined The 30 after Prop told me to give it a shot, and I stayed there for about 5 levels, after which I got bored, due to me still leveling up to 50 while pretty much all the other guildies were out in Emain (what's Emain? Strong mobs?), and they probably considered me a noob by all the shit I spouted in /gu. I did, at least ;p
After leaving The 30 I rolled a necromancer (as SI just got released, and yes, I still hadn't gotten to 50) and got it to level 42, after which I got bored and went back to my mercenary. I'd made a new friend while leveling my necro and, seeing my merc and necro were roughly the same level, continued leveling with the person in Avalon City. I also joined Shadowbreed after having spent a fair bit of time with Dominatrixx, and then met Smellysox and a bunch of other guildies :p
I got my mercenary to level 50 in Shadowbreed, after having made a whole load of icewiz groups with Nave and Elitestoner and then my memory stops serving me quite as well as it should, as I joined and left about 10 different guilds, half of which I can't remember. At level 49 I'd met Flesh on a small-scale Sidi raid, who I didn't particulary liked at first, but turned out to like later on :d
I joined Avalanche shortly after their coming to Prydwen, and had my first set-ish group in there, which only lasted for about two weeks iirc, tho I enjoyed it anyway. I then went back to Shadowbreed, at some point left for Rising force, which I left after a number of days due to an officer getting on my tits. Then there's another blank bit in my memory, and some more blank spots.
At some point both me and Jjuraa were unguilded and we pve'ed together for a while, as leveling Malice on Llama Island wasn't exactly fun, or fast-paced.
He then brought up the idea to join Outcast, which was already inactive, and somehow we both joined and I met one or two of the people in there, who ocasionally popped online. One of those players was Onigiri (tho he didn't exactly pop up, but was online a fair bit :p), who at that time I'd never heard of, until I checked daoc-stats.com or whatever it was, and noticed someone leveling rather fast :p
I then joined and left a ton of guilds again, switched servers and what not, joined Rose for a while, and I recently joined them on excal/hib.
At one point Sobek invited me to FL, which I thought he did just to take the piss out of me, and, having been guildless for a bit, I enjoyed the chat and we both spammed a lot. I then left FL as it was dead and the only thing I did there was chat with Sobek, which didn't really require me to be in the guild, and I probably joined some other guild, tho I can't exactly remember. Anyway, later on I got told that FL would be running a set group and got asked whether I were interested on joining, and I joined. After a while of idling we really got the group together and started running three times a week, which at some point turned into the only reason I logged into DAoC. I lost touch with a few friends, as I just logged on to rvr and not much besides that, which I later regretted, but I usually had a good time running with the set group which made it worth it. After running with FL for a couple of months I lost the will to play DAoC and I didn't show up as much as I did, aswell as letting my mood get the best of me and moaning a fair bit (most in FL and /as would probably find this an understatement), and I quit the guild. After one or two more runs in the guild group I got kicked for being a pain, and I didn't log on for about two weeks after that, as I'd only been rvr'ing with the same group of people for months, and I didn't really know what I'd be supposed to do if I were to log on. So, I got what I'd sort of tried to get; a reason to quit without returning, but after not having been on for two weeks I simply got bored, as I'd have too much spare time left, and started playing again, but without anyone to really chat with, or group with, as I'd been doing that with the same group of people, most of which I didn't really speak with anymore after having left.
At the moment I'm leveling a druid and with a little luck he'll be done before the end of summer, so I get to join in in the fg rvr stuff once it gets back on its feet, which I'm looking forward to. I'm on Hibernia with a few people from Rose, and so far it's been good, even tho I've had it with all the pve'ing.
It took me about a year to get my mercenary to level 50, tho I fucked about on different servers during that time, rolled a billion alts, etc. It took 19 days played, and I solo'ed a fairly large part of my merc's lvl 1-50 career, which was frustrating at the very fucking least, with hp/end regen every other pull.
I got about 16k the first time I went rvr'ing at level 50, which I found rather impressive at that time, and I probably played REALLY badly, which is one thing that didn't change over the years.

Disclaimer: I'm pretty sure I'm missing about 99% of the stuff that meant something to me, but hey, I've got no memory. And I'm not too sure whether everything went _exactly_ as I said, tho it went roughly that way, as I'm trying to describe the past 4 years out of my head ;p Also, my typing's probably a bit dodgy, aswell as the writing order, as I just stuck things in while I thought of them, and I'm fucking tired.

I used to watch my brother play DAoC and he let me try the game so I rolled a druid. Managed to get it to level 8 then my brother got bored of me playing his account so I brought my own. This was about 3 weeks after release in the UK. I rolled a skald on mid/excal called Gware. Got him to level 23 but couldn't get past it I then rolled a Shaman called Stimulant. I had been in a number of guilds uptill then and I still remember grouping with Coldbeard on his warrior when we were both in Blood Eagles. I also remember grouping with Adonix a lot and I always used to wonder how many alts he had that all had Adon in their name. I still remember him letting me play his Runie in RVR and how the damage rocked. I stopped playing for a while and went to WoW. Which was shit. I then got speaking to an old friend from Mid/Excal who was playing on Alb/Glast so I decided to buy a new account. Together with a couple of people we slowley formed a set group on there. Had some of the most fun ive ever had on DAoC in the four years i've had the game. But after a while the group was disbanded due too a lack of commitment and people not enjoying the game anymore. I now spend most of my time on Freeshard;)

Hm well i started in beta on albion got to about level 20. Was good fun doing rvr in emain, all the albs would follow this 1 uber high lvl guy an armsman called Khain who was purple to us lvl 36 or something. We would all charge down to amg chasing the hibs all the way back to Crim. Guaranteed every time the Crim patrol would aggro us and chase the alb zerg all the way to apk 2 and 3 shotting people the whole way. Was so funny a big trail of dead corpses from crim to amg.
Final day of beta an armsman called x*****x (forgot his name but had x at start and end) did a keep take and albs somehow managed to take crau!

In retail me and my mates all decided to roll Hibernia, with me an eldritch called Shadow. We started an alliance with clan bearhawk and axiom knights. Was good fun lvling in all the old school places, i was one of the highest on the realm and managed to get groups with people like icebreaker and meanie the bm, aluvian on his nature druid his 1st char! etc in Mount Collory hunting the beetles. Then from nowhere these purple con Middies would come charging down the mount collory valley at us! Was Teza, Woody, Sun etc! For days we would see their spam in the frontier newb zones and would always run like hell from them lol.

Sadly my story ends around here because if you all remember goas servers got hacked or something similar and we had to rollback, well something happened in the database and my eld got screwed and deleted, unrepairable.
Next time you all knew me was as Diabien the hero.

That was you? :) Remember getting nuked for like 300+, but then again thinking back it's probably due to the total lack of SC or ability to do a coherent template back then...

What happened to Kate by the way? First solo kill i ever got was her :)

my first day in daoc .

rolled an armsman, highlander called sollac.

levelled with a friend who started the day before called elneer.

he was a saracen paladin.....

we fought levelled and died many times, but we gradually met new people and joined guilds..myself i joined the celestial knights, then finally found a home with Bowen and Asq.

My friend elneer joined dragon knights.

We both completely balls'd up specs and kit.....always thought eternal midnight armour was the best.

Best memories are farming barrows and then all being cocky to chain pull gobbos in lyon and getting wiped first time.

i still remember sitting in lyon waiting for a tree grp and watching people run and scream as the group starts to crumble and die.

i sold my first account to a friend so he could start on hb , only got to49 so no loss.

took a few months off, decided i missed it so bought a new account and levelled another armsdman properly this time ( S/sh thou) just as si was released......levelled real quick and formed a friendship with Ironheart and his cronies.

goto 50 very quickly using AC and the dreaded sewers complex.

ventured into RVR and got to rr4 summat....and then discovered planetside.

stopped playing for a long time and then got rid of the account which i think is still played by someone to this date.

I'm back as Yug, yes an ebay purchase, but wanted a 50 armsman as thats what i know.

have levelled numerous alts as arms where not the fotm for a very long time.

have stopped leveling all alts to concentrate on arms again..

I miss my old friends, carean, andruril, mortis, darkh, xedos and many more, but i still with a guild ( merry men ) with friends i have known since i started the game....

I staying until warhammer....if its any good ill go there but daoc is one i always return too. its like h0me:kissit:

My first char was a highlander armsman in euro beta, got it to lvl 10!
Then I rolled a friar and it was so awesome kewl killer that I got it to lvl 15 in beta stage.
After euro release came out I rolled the friar again and got it to lvl 50 in no time (a bit over year). :D
It wasn't that fun playing for the first years because mainly you saw the exp bar moving backwards :(

Yeah, getting to 50 then was quite an achivement, it took ages, now it's a piece of cake.

And even being so easy lvling to 50, I still see it as a real pain, but I guess that because back then if was actually somewhat interessting to do PvE, seeing new stuff and all.

Aye, just running through classic zones and seeing something you might not have seen a billion times before (as it is now) was a good way to pass the time :p I really do wonder how I managed to spend nearly twenty days played getting to level 50, as I don't think I could level that slow now if I tried :p

I must have been afk ><

Yes, I had 31 smite until resist buffs came in. Before spell crafting and when people had almost no resists I could kill stuff quite easily

First toon was Bodhbh, shade, got to lvl18 then gave up as didn't seem really to live up to what it was supposed to be (magical assassin etc) but then at that stage of the game nobody knew anything really. Slot since rerolled as an eldie.

Joined NFD at random cos liked the name and wanted to be in a small guild (which it was for a v long time). Rerolled as Maeloch, the elf mentalist as loved idea of charming crap and master of both essence and nature magic or wtf. Got to lvl8 before got sick of the elf shoulderpads, deleted and rerolled celt with spikey hair (such a dandy) and that was that.

xD!

My brother got me started - a bit after ToA release I reckon. (A fair bit even, was about two - three months before NF.) Started a Berzerker first with the brilliant name "Badaboom", got him to a wooping lvl 40. Started Hunter then, was able to get it to 50 after a year and shortly after that Runemaster followed. But for some reason I decided to try out Hibernia where I made a shade and a BB, level'd them the good old way in Coruscating Mine and Darkness Falls (god, that was sooo booooring :D) and been able to get some gear for him thanks to the nice Marsh Horde fellas.

More characters came, got to many characters to play atm. But it's all good fun, still enjoying the game :)

Me and my brother was in beta but I wasnt too impressed back then, only played beta a couple of times.
Game released my brother bought it and started playing and after a week he had gotten me to try it again.

Started a celt ranger named Gliepner (wanted to be a ns but didnt read the info to good XD) got it too around 15-18 somewhere and started my ench instead.

Stopped playing after 1st month due to rl issues and got back 2-3 weeks before SI release. started a bard who was the first char I got too 50 on.

remember running around in Howth killing worms and other lowbie mobs.. the ones that yelled no no dont hurt me and Ill be back =P

first guild I remember being in must be In Vino Veritas way back, after that I joined some other guilds for a while until I found House of Rivera and stayed there until it died except for my bard who was in The Ghetto Pimps at the time.

When HoR died I joined Ebony Hand for some time and I enjoyed my stay there alot, great , fun and helpfull ppl, but me and 3 other old HoR tried to revive the guild and we got it back up for a while but eventually it died again and I got asked to follow some friends to CLA and I did.

Enjoy the game alot still even tho all my irl friends left the game shortly after ToA release

My m8, Feyd, made me start playing (was around a few weeks after release). First char was a theurg, Zlair, which I specced Ice, cuz Ice rocked as a sorc in Diablo (stuuupid me ;)). Lvling at camp. forest with feyd most of the time. At some point around lvl7ish Feyd had visited Camelot, and wanted to go there again (he died and didnt bind, so he ported back to camp. forest, hehehe). So we walked from camp. forest to Camelot - man what a walk! Salisbury Plains with the giants - ooohhhhh - remember thinking this game was huuuuge and so cool!!! (that was then, hehehe). Well, later I met Madonion, Spiral, Loxleyhood, Hawkwind, Stephen, Fii and so many more to mention. We formed Red Dragons, which for a long time was my only guild. Lvling was damn hard, cuz i specced full ice - no one at trees etc wanted me, cuz i dint have bt. Remember many times that when I entered a grp I said "U all get 1 hit for free, cuz I dont have PBT" hehehe... Always nice dropping the bomb "sry, im ice specced" hehehehe (even tho i often got kicked, doh!). Well, later at tanglers I was wanted, cuz Ice was bugged (I could recast field of ice constantly, without timer getting reset) - so around 44ish i went pretty fast. Around 47ish I could solo aquaduct, so 50 was just aound the corner - even tho I still have nightmares about tanglers, hehe.

I went to Odins with Feyd, Stephen and Loxleyhood (think Madonion was there too) on my first rvr trip around lvl 30ish. Remember when we saw 3 mids conning green, blue and red, and my pulse must have been 220 or something. Ofc I died first, but we won (well, we were a bit more ppl ;)). Was great fun, and my hand shivered and everything, hehe. Around lvl 40ish i made a buff bot (wasnt called that back then, more of a "instant rezzer once dead") Well, I went to email with my buff bot, Enhanze, just Zlair and Enhanze on autofollow. Was fun having a healer with me, when i met soloers who only went for Zlair :) But but but... Theurg was still cannonfodder, so I made an Infil, Meduza, cuz Zlair constantly got owned by stealthers. Lvlving the semi-hard way (Had Enhanze with me, but still hard) in most of the dungeons. When Meduza hit 50, fun rly began. Was so damn fun being a stealther, I still sometimes miss it.

Well thats my short story, have much more to tell, but Im at work, soo... U know ;)

Uhm,

My first experience of DAoC was actually in beta phrase 3. Played a cabalist to level 17 before the beta period closed.

If it's when DAoC came live on EU, then my first experience was a friar.
Was pretty funny to level it, but people saw me as a gimp as ALL knew at that time, friars was bad at melee and bad at healing, overall a bad class, right? ;)

Leveling at that time wasn't really that hard. Many groups and almost no PL'ers and best of all: Almost no buffbots!

Ok, my first experience in rvr was actually on my minstrel Halfling. It was great times, I actually remember playing together with Kalammer, Aurores and a few others (was more or less random group make up) pre-ToA/NF.
Was good times...

Now I'm on my 7th DAoC account, which has my merc, but that's another story.

I want that loading screen back! :)

first day was the first day of excalibur server!

i remember the rush of being there at the start and trying always to level the fastest :D

i was one of the highest level hibs all the way to 50 (/play 35d at 50!). i think by the end of the first day we were all about 22-25 levelling at the Parth farm in east lough derg. or maybe that was after a couple of days. i forget!

first times in rvr.

in mid 20s (i think) we did a massive raid (CF, Kineada's guild- i forget the name, Mist Wraiths and soem others) to Yggdra and ganked loads of lowbies and xpers. woaheahehaehahe! for the realm!

also another on of my first experiences was when we were aroudn 32 with made a run with Rip (hero, highest level at that time), Gaya, Cuth, Wuren, Dachrak and some others to emain. then these trolls and norse in purple/black and conning purple to us totally owned us. we were like WTF. they all had a blue/yellow guild cloak. i think you can guess who they were! all kitted out in full spindel gear when ours and albs top dungeons (Corus and Barrows) had not been itemised yet.

There were always incidents in the gorge and i remember lots of this from there. the first minstrel i rememebr ever seeing (didnt see many in beta) was Alpha in gorge (the original, no buffbotted alpha). also Jazhara around that time, and Gromit(smite cleric- became buffbot when he bought Alpha ;)).

once near the start Sun, the Maelstrom guild and Nolby camped gorge and killed us for ages. then us, the highest level hibs went around the back and got em! we had Tylar and Mirandalia in group at the time, the two highest voidies in hib, they just aed em down! was quite sick.

ofc Shade/Fatbelly in gorge! terminally harassing us poor hibbies of the time. i remember when i first killed fatbelly. it was awesome.

we waaaajned a lot on the old GOA forums! that was fun. I liked arguing with Tina especially.

ps. oh yea... I was an Elf Ranger in beta called Novalas Masamune :(
got to almost 20 i think!!

Then i remember bluesky inviting me to join Sons of Nidhug. At the prime........this guild was the best one i've ever had. Can never forget the legendary svartalf! Guild raids every week. And would be 2fg raids all the time and guild meetings in gotar. Then FUCKING WoW came out and the guild went totally dead. Used to remember logging on and seeing just me.:(

First, ye I admit I'm vain enough to do a search for posts about me ;). Well I've not been reading the forums for ages so... well.. bah I admit it's just vanity and nothing else :wanker:

Thanks for your kind words, brad. I had a lot of fun with SoN and I do miss the old guild. I've not experienced that kind of friendliness in a guild since. It's funny how you don't realise how special it is until it's gone. Ahh well, time passes, you move on.

On my first day in DAoC... it was Beta, and I was at my friend's house, we signed up and I rolled a runemaster, but I didn't play it.. I went back and made a shadowblade, called Sivergold... I think! I made friends with a group of danish peeps back then, they founded SoN. Ragnar I think was one, and Mir..something .. Mirrah? (the mist and fog of my memory, et al... it's all just a big vague blob of yesteryear). Anyway, I played Silvergold for a while, got into some uber RvR at the alb milegate in emain... my god! What fun that was... nobody got past level 35 by the end of beta and it was a total zergfest. Everybody wanted that Twilight 2-hander. Amazingly good fun. After seeing the high level svartalfs in spindelhalla (hahaha), I decided to call myself Svartalf Imposter in release, and scare people who came to exp there by standing near the mobs and pretend to aggro players when they came near. I laughed when people backed away. Evil ;) (Though the clue was in my name -> Imposter). Later on they stopped using Kobold models for Svartalfs, and my joke was lost in time. Later still they stopped people from naming they characters the same as a mob. Heh.

I recently stopped playing WoW, and I'm just browsing the upcoming MMORPGs. I had a lot of fun with DAoC, and while WoW is extremely well polished, it lacks a lot of the personal stuff I found with DAoC. I think that was the novelty of my first MMOG, I guess. What a shame to lose touch with all those nice people though.

I wonder if I'll end up playing Mythic's next effort: Warhammer. It has a lot of nice features which improve upon DAoC and WoW, so it's quite tempting.

Anyway, if you want to get in touch my email is Svartalfimposter at hotmail.com, or you can go read the old messageboard at nidhug.com.

OMG Svarty first off.... /hugs :fluffle:

If any old thread is worth bringing back up again then this is certainly no bad one and beats reading all teh QQ-whine-someonediedinanrvrzone-!!!111twoeleven11!!sixtynine11!!igotzerged11!! crap that frequents this forum lol

I was sure I had posted in this thread but cant find a post so maybe it was a similar one in a different forum.

Nice words btw Brad and yeah in those days Sons Of Nidhug was a big guild and totally rocked - Svarty, Adrira, Jake, Grivne, Ormie, Gorgrim (and his bro), Bergast, Bolds etc etc - great memories and great people sadly missed. I remember the weekly guild hunts of 2-3fg of SoNs and the many Trollheim hunts but the best one i think was the time we took 4 full groups of just guildees and totally owned just about everything in DF but died on Beliathan or Behemoth or one of the uber godlike mobs hehe

I think I started about 3 weeks after the game went live and remember exping on Bluesky (my first and uber gimped dorf zerker who totally rocked anyway lol) proper oldskool with Cwini the SB and Rockford the Shaman. I remember fighting vendo's then mobs around Huginfell before moving south to those shrieking willows round Gna Faste.

Then we moved to the werewolves and into Varulvahm and finally to my most favourite place where i more or less lived for months.... in Spindel. I know that place like the back of my hand and can probably walk round backwards and blindfolded lol

In those days there was no SI, no DF, no housing erm nothing really so lots of people would often go to the undead camp in Yggdra and xp there from about level 30ish upwards and every now and again some albs or hibs would appear to kill us all but if we were lucky Sinister the Hunter dressed all in black (black was uber and expensive back then lol) would pop up and murder all the enemies so we could carry on exping - superb fun :)

I remember Rockford took a break then we came back and as SI had come out we exp'd some alts to mid 40s outside Hagall on Skrats before going to Malmo for the final push to 50. Ahh the malmo groups and the list holder - even more memories lol I still think thats the best place ever to xp from lev 40 upwards and in the old days you actually had to learn your class properly. I dinged 50 there on zerk in proper 2fg melee setup learnign all about MA then i was puller on shaman and met Slatelighttone (seriously top laugh and he loved my shaman lol) and then the next 2 50's also dinged 50 there.

omg ok ok i think im rambling now so ill shurrup lol - anyway nice to bring this post back imo Svarty :)

PS Svarty an old pic from one of our DF raids:

my first char was Ruben(rogue) but i made him on a french server lol i didnt even level him to lvl 2 ;)

so i made a new char Rub(Rub cos i thought u couldnt take 2 the same names :p) but a fighter, cause my dad played a while too and i found the starting place lots cooler then a rogue :x, u don't want to know what my starting pts are, theyre a bit in everywhere cause i thought everyone needed all stats, so once i dinged 5 i wanted to become a paladin (i saw the trainer somewhere in my first trip in camelot) so i go in camelot turn left and... i see the armsman trainer i go talk to him and i accidently become an armsman lol

so i get some friends i am asked to join <Immortals> (shame that guild doesnt exist anymore tbh) and i join ofc, i also made some good friend from <Mobs On Drugs> shame i cant remember name anymore

my first time rvr was in thidranki :) good fun there with zerg vs zerg, but my first real rvr was on lvl 42 as slambot xD

My first char was my Eld Aqe. I had a weird graphic bug first days for some reason. Entire world was colored in yellow/red/blue/purple etc... (I joined a week or so after release) I saw a few purple players swiching by connla on horses but didnt know how they got them :)

Took me a few days to get to Ardee/mag mel and after that everything just flowed on. First guild: Draconis Alumni (sp) joined them when we did that dungeon near ardee.

First time RvR was at lvl 42 (none dinged 50 on server yet but they where some 48+). Void Eldritch facing the huge GREY albion zerg fun times :D
Running up and down the Crim valley is one of the funnies rvr experiences ever. Sometimes we pressed the alb zerg past amg but in turn got sandwitched from behind by mids.

Started a Warden called Panzer on day 1 of excal, got to 12 grouping with a ment called Laryssa and an Eld called Julia. Unfortunately then discovered VNboards and gave up after reading how gimp wardens were. Rolled a light eld and got to 21, got my first rvr kill in odins then (god the adrenaline ...)

Formed DW with a ranger called Janx and an eld called Rath, and been there ever since. At about 30 Leek, Sephiroth and Roxanna joined DW and we slowly grew to be the biggest guild in Hib at one point.

Finally got my first 50 on Panzer after about a year, at CF fins !

Alas, im one of those peeps who rolls new toons when i get frustrated (hence over 15 lvl 50's now) so never really stuck with Panzer until he finally got shelved about 2 years ago, only to be revived when we got shield spec.

So many nice peeps met along the way, so many names forgotten. Not many of the old timers still around...

I was always a huge rpg fan, but always shy about playing a game with so many real people playing :eek6:
But something about DaoC intrigued me, so I bought the game a few days after Euro release, I rolled a Nightshade elf named Locherbread on Hibernia Prydwen :) as I always played rogue type characters in Baldurs gate etc...
I recall my opening moments wandering around Mag mell, totally mesmerized.
Shortly after I decided to tackle my first creature, wiggly worm thingie was first to succumb to my mighty powers, at level 3 I decided to explore more, I wandered south along the banks of the lake, killing as I went, then all off a sudden these Beatles charged me, hehe I was dead before I knew it...My first of many encounters with the legend squik & his posse of water beetles hehe

I soon realized the life of an assassin wasn't my calling, after reaching lvl 7 I decided to roll a different character, decided on a celt druid, named him GreenPegasus, I recall a message in broadcast, come to Ardagh (might be wrong) & join this funky new guild, first so many getting officer status...so I thought yeah why not, guilds name was Marsh Horde ^ ^ few days after joining I logged in & the guild was organizing a hunt in Muire's Tomb, I joined the merry band in the town of Ardee, we set of towards Muire's tomb, but before reaching the tomb a friend of the group leader logged on, I was kindly asked to disband to allow this person to join, I did so & took a major wobbly & quit the guild lol...Ah well following day I met to of the finest guys in Hibernia, Chabio & molithidbh, joined keepers of the grove & throughly enjoyed the game for the next few years :)

DAoC was my first ever mmorpg, read a review in PCGamer and loved the look of it (was a writer's diary of his experiences in Midgard).

My first day was major fun, water beetle slaying near Ardee with a load of other players on my Ranger (first ever char and still only RR4l2). Helped form a guild called Memento Mori (i know, lame name), which disbanded and the core of which became Soul Reavers. Helped found an alliance with HoF (the first HoF alliance, great times :)).

A lot of the friends I made in my first few weeks of playing I am still playing with now, over 4 years later.

A lot of people look back at how fondly they remember the game and how it's not the same as it was. Not me, I love it more now than ever, and my guild are the greatest bunch of people I have met in any online game.

To be honest, it is and has always been the players who have kept me coming back to DAoC. Even now, still the best community in any mmorpg I have played (well....mabe a close second to EvE, but hey ;)).

Well Aussie and his bro told me to quit counter-strike and play some game named daoc but it was still in beta so after the EU release I bought the game and here I was, I never played a mmo before so this was my first mmorpg, I had no friggin clue what to do in daoc. The first hour I ran around on the road next to the guards then they explained me how to play it. :p

I had alot of level 10 toons in the start but my first real char was a Paladin and my first guild that I joined was named DVE. I xp'ed my Paladin till level 45 then I deleted it because I got bored of the game to be honest. But for some reason I tried the game again after 2 weeks ( there are day's that I really wish that I didnt tried the game again ).

I liked the stealth thing so I rolled my Infiltrator which was such a pain to level back then. I never played much and still got quite fast to level 50 on the Infil and it was really nice to get the level 50 ding on your first char. ;)
Once my Infil was ready for RvR I got so addicted to this game and the only thing that came to my mind was playing daoc and RvR!
