Thanks for info, the link cleared much of it :)

I'm not really keen on the flagging type pvp.. I like the safe areas & realm war areas thingy, bit like in DAoC. But in pvp server still, it looks like you can't attack people when you're in their territory unless they attack you first. That sounds silly. Shouldn't it the point that you invade the other race's areas and start whacking!
Well, maybe it will still change, or perhaps it is a good concept and I just haven't realized it yet. PvP server doesn't sound bad anyway and it's pretty close to DAoC RvR style. Except the safe areas are smaller I suppose.

WoW > DAoC

1. I dont have to play against "better" rouges.
2. I dont have to face mincers with insta-stun and fz.
3. It aint archer-heaven like NF.
4. You dont need buffbots.

Gnome Rogues get escape artist. :p

Lol you got a lvl 47 char in beta, where the level cap is 60..wont you be "done" with it in a week or 2? Wow-gfx are not my cup of tea (if you stand close to a building for example you can count the pixels its made off) PvE looks promising, RvR is non existant atm (will be there in a few months I guess) main problem for me is that the game is just to plain easy...seen lvl 55+ chars on beta thats not a good sign really

You have misunderstood entirely.

The game doesn't end when you get level 60 and the point of WoW isn't purely to grind levels. Levelling isn't what is going to be hard in WoW according to Blizzard.

And thank God for that, most people don't find it fun to do the grinding that's in most other mmorpgs. Fun content should be what a game is about. Not the stupid grinding.

Ah different types of PvP.
The luxury of having many, many servers so that you can try out different styles.

Dream mode on/ But wait: I am told that DAoC numbers are up - so maybe there will be a third UK/English server soon ....

WoW's cartoonie style and easier crafting + DAoC's rvr (or AvH in WoW terms) = something else to rot away on, and care not about it

On a PvP server neutral territories are like the frontier in DAoC. Each side can attack the other with impunity. The difference is that the neutral zones can move around based on which side controls what areas and you can always invade the opposing sides territory as well in order to provoke a fight. A bit like the home invasion server people always wanted.

Even on the normal servers you get quite a bit of PvP action. Just last night I was questing in The Barrens when all of a sudden a group of high level Alliance characters came up the south road towards the town. They aggroed the guards and became PvP flagged (for attacking enemy NPCs) so all of the Horde character in town piled out and started to fight them. The critical thing here is choice. Those Alliance characters chose to come to the Horde town and aggro the guards, thus becoming PvP flagged in order to entice people into fighting them. The Horde characters chose to attack them to defend the important NPCs in the town (they could otherwise have killed our quest giving NPCs, merchants etc.). Neither side had to join in if they didn't want to but there are decent enticements to do so.

It also means that I can visit all of the Alliance lands and do quests there without having to worry about being attacked provided I don't aggro any guards or enter a major city. If I choose to engage in PvP then all I need to do is start killing important NPCs in a town to become flagged and draw all of the players from nearby who hear about the attack on the zone defense channel.

In my limited experience this is a much better solution that DAoC for a normal server. If you want more PvP action simply choose a PvP server :)

Played wow for both stress tests now and ive done a lot of PVP and aside from no pvp rewards(which are in next patch)the system is very fast paced and very fun.Atm all chars cept warriors feel balanced so theres none of daocs ahh its a xxxx class ill win this easy.Fights also seem to last longer so theres no 1shotting tanks and ofc u cant perma interupt mages/support so its fun for them aswell. On pvp servers it has contested zones which are like daocs frontiers and blizzard has done a good job of making sure horde/alliance quests make u cross paths,so a simple kill xx mobs can turn into a kill xxx mobs while u defend the area from invading enemys.
Add to fact theres no penalty for pvp death this makes pve a lot more interesting. One thing i havent seen yet are the PVP quests that are ingame but im constantly looking for the quest NPCs:)

Played WoW some in open beta and I'm amazed, its incredibly solid and wellpolished for a beta imo.

Classbalance seems to be nice and the world is just.. uberly done. Music, GFX, gameflow, intuitive UI.. WoW is an experience gamewise.

I havent played PVP any other than dancing alil with some troll but if they make PvP fun, I cant see any reason to play DAoC ever again, its in beta and already have shitload more content than DAoC ever had imho. Give WoW a year to develop fully and its a killer i think.

Deffo gonna play it in retail on some Euroserver.

open beta almost equals full game... and its too easy... dull classes.. but perhaps as you say... give it a year or 2 and some expansions ans we will see :).. Not so hard to balance classes since they are like 100% equal in both realms.. cept the shaman and the paladin wich are the only 2 alliance/horde unique classes. I havent seen any more content in wow then in daoc though tbh.. Just alot more "kill task"-like quests

played open beta and thought game was great if u like adventuring and questing. unfortunatly didnt have time to try rvr
real issue was lag, but it was enforced by blizzard to really test the server. at end of the day i was playing in uk on us server, so lag is expected and hopefully blizzard will take all the comments into consideration.
even though only in beta the game was extremely polished and i will definatly leave daoc 4 it, and i think alot of people will stay and not come back to daoc
