Problem is the rest of the team get lazy and lump balls up to him all game. All very well having him on as a great decoy, but players often opt for the easy option. Spurs tend to do it when they play him as well.

So true and also he gets loads of fouls given against him because he looks so god damn bendy and scary when jumping with other players.

He can score, but its not the best part of his game. I thought his chest control, lay-offs and interplay with the midfielders was excellent. Just wish he could play for Villa like that.

Thing is with Heskey and Crouch they aren't impact subs, but Defoe can be. I'd give Heskey (or Crouch, at a push because I really don't like watching him :S) an hour - see where we are and then put Defoe on to stretch a tiring defence.

No, he really doesn't. Pretty sure we'll see Gerrard on the left of midfield joining the attack, and Heskey could well rotate to the left wing or into midfield. Changing positions is the way to go.

And I still don't think England played that badly the other day, I do think there are ridiculous expectations of England. Sure, if people think that they're capable of winning the World Cup it wasn't a good performance. But we're not and it was

I don't think a 4-3-3/4-5-1 system works particularly well in International football. Certainly when the team in question don't have a left winger. Maybe if Joe Cole had some form but he's hardly played this year.
