Well I was following it before all the crap started. Grow up boys, and put the handbags away. We've all got bigger things to worry about!!!

Standard procedure tbh. They'll rebrand, cherry pick the assets and leave all the debts and worthless stores for the administrator to deal with.

I would wonder what the point is though. By definition gamers with the most money to spend on games are those that are tech savvy and do a lot of online shopping, either digital distribution or Amazon, Play or whatever. Mummy buying the latest Fifa instalment once a year for their spawn will not keep a high street chain afloat. HMV are in the same boat because again, technology has moved on, boxed units are old and largely pointless. Why would anyone buy a CD, rip the CD and then put it on their music system of choice when you can cut out all the dicking about and do it direct?

HMV next, then Waterstones then probably PC world... I don't know anyone who shops there any more, even my mum bought her new laptop on the Dell website! She can barely check her email.

I'd suppose maybe somebody who doesn't already have a computer might want to buy one from PC World...

There's also still that section of society who want something in their hand on the day, i.e. pick up, buy, walk out, use.

There are, but less and less of those are people who have loads of disposable income.

Gamestation, France, Australia and probably Scandinavia will be dumped immediately, which will make the whole thing much more attractive for a Gamestop takeover. Then we can all reconviene in 3 years' time when they go down the dumper as well. My advice to anyone working in a shop selling media products? Don't.

So, with GAME finally biting the dust they're laying off about 40% of the workforce according to current reports, maybe somebody will buy them once all the shit has been chopped away?

List of the current store closures. Not surprised about the Croydon one to be honest. The old game store on the highstreet that got branded with their gamestation logos was always much better.

One of the two in Kingston going then, the old EB shop. Prefer that shop as it has more room and a better layout, but the other is in a prime location in a big shopping centre so it makes sense to keep that one I guess.

It was weird Sunday i went into GAME and asked them if they would be open Monday and i got a response ''why wouldn't we?'' to which point i asked them if they knew what was going on with GAME i showed them a bunch of news from various websites about many stores shutting down Monday, one guy looked extremely stressed and the other guy looked happy about it.

Also they invested more money in refitting the Bentall's Centre one, plus it was Game originally and naturally has a higher foot flow.

What I don't get was they refitted it and basically made it into a completely empty shop. There's nothing there. I know it's not a big space and they can't have many options but it's never been laid out so poorly ever before. The amount of stock they hold is tiny.

Given the current circumstances there's probably a reason for that.

Most of the GAME stores in Greater Manchester have been like that for the last couple of years, vast open spaces with limited stock and terrible layout. The people running that company are chimps, most of the upper management are the same monkeys I had to work for in 1992, idiotic store and regional managers who were only good for crunching numbers and had no real ideas on how to maximise a retail business.

All of the problems that GAME have/had are the result of short sighted CEO's from the past, Ian Shepherd (the last CEO who resigned on Monday) came in and attempted to make good changes but didn't have enough money and time. Personally I believe the fault lies at the previous two CEOs of GAME. They believed that there was no future in online but bricks and mortar.

Theyre still offering store credit for game trade-ins but you can't actually use the credit while they're in administration, cheeky cunts.
