I wrote around 2 months ago or so , when this post was first made my answer.. but i will correct it into :There are no legends truelly, we all together, we are the legend that has made this game soooooo sweet during those 4 years :) - soon 5 tho. Excalibur server will be always the legend of the DAoC , such nice times we have spent, and i hope we will keep having fun days. Lets all cheer, cause all we added something to that great comunity , and all that it has something to do with it , irc uncountables discussions, the new art pad stuff , all our constructive debates we did on BW forum, our uncountables hours of roleplay :) ... because we all affected on it a bit to become what is today :) . Since first char who ever logged on excal on march of 2002 till the ones today made their first char , we are all LEGENDS! :worthy:

its fun being nostalgic, just shouldn't try to recreate the past - it wont work, and even if it will, it most likely wont be as much fun :p

let good memories stay good memories :D

Sadly if you would go back to the "old days" it won't be the same either. You'd have the things back that irritated you the most back then.

For some reason people seem to forget quickly and have the attitude grandparents have: "in my days" or "when i was a little boy/girl" or "back then"...
While back then had negatives aswell, they have just "forgotten" them.

As VF says, let the old memories be kept good memories and create a fun now instead of looking back to the past every few mins :)

"back in the old days" pfft.

"back in the old days" pfft. 2+ years in to the game doesnt qualify as old days imo.

I'll post these 2 screenies and let them help freshen the memory of those whos been around from the start. First one is rather old, however I was 50 at that time (almost just dinged 50 if im not mistaken) and i had just a tad over 30 days /played @ 50, and before that i had tried lvling a warrior twice plus did quit the game for a couple of weeks before i made my zerker. A guess would be around 3 months in to the game, maybe 4.
Im only posting these to bring up some oldschool names, nothing else.

notice sonya, the first zerker 50 and in all black. Almost 100% positive on this. Saw him standing in that bindplace where u could ride to uppland, forgot the name. He was all black and had the purple spindelhalla 2h axe on his back. This was pretty huge for me as i was lowlvl at that time still.

Notice the guildnames here, those guilds are truly oldschool. I bet alot forgot them, atleast I had untill I saw this screeny.

Have to say I agree with vodkafairy - can't go back to relive old memories. going back to daoc now for any1 oldschool player who quit, shouldnt be to relive those days. I've wanted to do it several times but I know it wont work. Was alot of things to dislike back then, but those memories gave way for the best ones, just as VF said.
Instead lets hope a new game will come around some day to bring back the same feel daoc gave us then and still does for almost everyone who played it, regardless of when u started.

Just a little correction: Sonya Blade was a norse skald.

Well there is this geezer wot seems to be all over Freddy's Battlegrounds. Are the battlegrounds included in this? I think his name is - eh let me think? Oh yes - Thugs. That name sure rings a bell. Yes Thugs for sure. I heard someone say he was a leg-end in his own life time - or his DOAC life time anyways. They all refer to him as the 'King of Thid'. Most notorious person wot has ever played this game as far as I know - and famous too - well infamous might be a better word to use.

I'm amazed that some people are missing, some are not so known but still a legend imho.

Brealanna: Has been long time leader of TD and I've never seen anyone again organize so many things for us. He was the one who got GOA to get our remembrance day in Emain to their homepage and much more...

Censimilia: I mean c'mon, he was/is like TEH archer for me and while I was crawling up the levels I always looked up to him and I still do tbh =)

Motorhead and Kiukku: Both lifesavers with their huge pets, when I was leveling outside DL and some evil enemy would come and try to kill me.

Alpha: I think he was the most feared Cruach camper for a long time and he played his mincer very well

Outlaw and Zoyster: even if their legendary status is more or less related to negative experiences, they ARE legends =)

Aussie: for camping AMG and writing retarded stuff on forums =)

Elricstormbringer and Dracul: both for soloing in Odin's Gate all the time

Terra Dominus: yer, sure I'm not 100% objective on that one, but imho we deserve the legendary status for being one of the first guilds that were created on this server and still exist =) Like nr. 3-5 or so in Hibernia if I recall that right.

Celtic Fist: see above

I'm sure I missed one or two, but I think these are the legends. Sure there are lots of people I could mention for being personal friends, but I don't think it's about posting my friends list here =))

nah...people seem to think legendary status is something you get for the years you play. in that case there arent many legendary players left:p
And some of the very first players just played a while and got tired and moved to another game...thats not very legendary imo:p
The ones that deserve a star are the ones that stick around and waded through all the shit mythic thrown at them hehe.
So...a hurra to the people of hibernia that adjusted to all crises and stuck to game...HURRA!!!:)
I noticed some people in these threads that arent even that old in game itself writing about names they heard that was in beginning...like a bit of namedropping. Makes me a bit tired:p
over and out..

I couldn't agree more, I find it funny how some people are STILL voting for players that gave up and quit the game back in the early SI days if not earlier.

The game was completely different back then, and arguebly alot easier, its a whole different ball game now and theres no telling how they would of adapted if at all. Nostalgia is nice but you should not compare the people that have stuck with it and adapted to the game with 'ghosts' of the past, someone who quit after 2 years is not a legend.
