What is needed to have you(r) (FG) back on the cluster?

So, I just want to figure out the circumstances that might be needed to have the leavers come back.

Please answer the poll, it's public. State also on behalf of what group you speak if you do so and add some information on what would make you want to play with your friends here again.

Keep it civil, we all know that the server is not in its best shape, maybe the information we gather here will help a bit somehow, though I doubt it.

I dont speak on behalf of any grp but only reason I'd ever wanna play fg on cluster is if there was any decent competition to be found and lots of groups.

Actually the thought of the poor mans U2 with Jim & Patsy is probably enough to drive anyone away.

From my PoV (& not necessarily NFD2) it'd be respect for everyone’s playstyle, less whining by all & people to understand that keep taking is all well & good when everyone gets to play. Cleaning up the mess the next day while people sit in a keep en masse & nuke you down = not a lot of fun after the first couple of months.

I've nothing against keep/relic takes, but those things were always the bit of RvR that was supposed to be massed battles where each realm pits against each other. Not done by some group at an hour when the majority are asleep (well at least in my view). Think it was moderately amusing the first time Deadly Shadows ninja'd a relic way back when in OF(stealth guild ftw!!!), these days & after repetitive night time takes it's just a little boring & not likely to make me want to go out & take it back.

Like Pol I cannot speak for all NFDGG2 the mood seems to be that basically its over and we aren't looking back anymore.

Personally I am just tired of the whole thing now. The situation seems to be done and dusted the cluster with all its issues are slowly sinking away.

I do think they need to now consider clustering the cluster for it to survive. At the end of the day it was low population that really allowed this situation to develop.

A change of attitude from people around here is needed as well. There are too many people ready to jump in a sling mud and then sit back and laugh at the consequences. All that time they just didn't get how serious people were about the situation. It is just too late to go back now.

Not really a constructive reply Manisch I know but that is how it is unfortunately. :/

So if having a bad day and getting a spanking, then swap to old realm and roll out the high RRs for spanky the ass. I know I would like to fight NFD, TT and to be honest that level of vibrancy is what I seek.

I have to be honest this is the only really workable solution that everyone could be happy with. The base language is the same and the population gets a massive boost.

I am sure GOA have worked this through in alot of detail and know that everything else is going to be higher degrees of pain. I know I don't like the code base and network issues that 2, would bring and the admission of defeat that 3. means.

After that, group us with a very high pop US, killing our cousins in the America's would put a smile on my face (Thats still our country and you will have to pay for that bloody tea you dumped in the harbour ). At least it would stop ACing of relics. I actually think it would drag a few groups back. But not even sure population at non peak time would be enough to keep it going. It would be a temporary stave of execution. Plus technical issues of allowing people to play on other Euro servers as well as at least 1 america cluster. Mmmmm

Advantage would be at least we would be patched upto date all the time. Though it would mean 2 different code bases for Europe for English players and the nightmare that would mean for GOA. Remember to play on the US clusters you need to be current patch. To play on Euro we are normally 1 - 2 patches behind.

3. Group us with Avalon (German base language). This would effectively mean that GOA have given up on English being a representated language in DAOC. For me this is still workable, since it would mean more to fight. Though I am not sure it would be very fair on the PvErs. There would be no new starters and we would leave and die with the germans.


So ultimately 1. is the only solution that can trully be a step forward. So slap Mythic and point out to them, if they had done a proper job on the linguistics that wouldn't be in this shit hole they left us in.

This is the only realistic solution in my opinion, (or another german cluster). I have said it before but I think GOA never intended on having a significant english only speaking market. The english market is not going to get any better either with Mythic providing a better service.

The language problems could probably be overcome relatively easily anyway. Although German would be the main language in the NF (and other shared zones) they might be able to keep english as the main language on the Pry/Exc PvE (Classic, SI, ToA, etc) zones and german the main language on Avalon/whatever PvE zones.

It bemuses me how people can fail realise the time and effort Shark put into understanding GOA's PoV and also seeking an amicable solution.

It is not prima donna peeps who killed the server but selfish individuals who failed to see how their actions stopped making the server fun to play (or to be fair perhaps some who simply could not appreciate the consequences).

There should have been room for us all, those who like to zerg, those who like FG and those who like to solo but even now, after the so called 'prima donna's' have left, we still see the threads asking people to think of others not only themselves (the stop ganking my solo'er threads).

So how do we fix it ? Maybe a US cluster would be interesting. It would make it more of a 24 hour game in terms of population so AC raids become less of an issue. However I have no idea how the US regard to FG or solo action and that also seems to be an annoyance factor.

from what i can tell so far there is very little solo action on the US server (the cluster i play on at least) which is a shame but as its not the reason i went there it doesn't really matter to me. there is plenty of zerging, however its different, rather than go to random bridge, semi afk all night with aoe button pressed, the zerg moves about looking for other zergs. fg action seems pretty good with a nice variety of group types, most of the times its pick support then fill with damage dealers, with the aim of fun being the top of the list. You get some camping in labby but this is to be expected, same as darkness falls a few years back.
