now taht i`m reaching the heady heights i`m looking into a new weapon
what i`m wondering is what`s best faster or harder hitting?

been looking at the hardest hitting 1 hand slasher arcanium bastard sword form example dps 16.5 spd 3.9
as apposed to a jambaya dps 16.5 spd 2.6

so which is best for a paladin sword and shield user in your opinion of course

I'd use the Bastard sword as the first hit doesnt have a delay so will do more damage in most fights... Especially those where you only get one hit off.... theres an opinion for you anyways...

Well lthe bastard sword does indeed do the most damage in the first hit, However the other weapon hits faster for less damage.

The impact of a 'missed hit' will be less with the fast weapon. Overall the two should do the same amount of damage over time. What is important is quality... Go for the highest you can pay...

For pve tanking a fast weapon is preferred for safely landing a few taunts on highlevel mobs

Yip, keep using those high number speed weapons, I'll just stand there behind the nearest Wardens pbt

FFS! Fast weapons are the only way to go, especially in high level RvR. Low levels are ok, as there is a lack of pbt, and CC doesn't last as long. The faster the weapon you have, the more chance it will get another hit in before the pbt pulses again, or the CC caster can get over the interupt to cast on you again.

Unless you are an assassin, where the first CS hit is better with a slower weapon, then switching to faster ones, normal weapon users should go with faster weapons. Means you can fight more.

Take last night for example. In Thid I had a pierce ranger, 24 in pierce. Was able to tank 2 healers at once, due to the speed of the attacks being high enough to switch target to the one attempting to heal to interupt them, then back to the main target. They didn't get any heals off. Granted, one of them was res sick, and had a lack of power, so I mostly ignored that one, apart from the occasional heal-interupt.

You try doing that with a 4+ spd weapon...

Id say use the Bastard for Zerging and the Jambiya for any other type of combat...
