Hackers got into the russian civil aviation database and deleted it, they allege no automated backups in the system they nuked so unless there's some manual tape backups somewhere... ouch.

Sweet. Russia needs to be put back to the Stone Age.

I don't see much different between these corrupt cunts and our corrupt cunts, apart from we did most of it ages ago.

Like the queen getting 25% kickbacks for anything that happens in the sea.

I've heard parrots less repetitive than you. Why don't you walk up to her door and demand your cut if you're that pissed off about it.

I don't see the relevance? If something's corrupt, something's corrupt. Why are you willing to turn a blind eye to one type of corruption, but not another?

Raising questions about relevance after bringing the Queen up in a thread about a war in Ukraine is an interesting one. What's not interesting is the constant "but we're cunts too" hand-wringing.

I do see your point - but it's not hand-wringing or apologism. There is, quite rightly, outrage at Roman Abramovich. I've been calling that cunt a criminal for years - and have been pointing out that he's a thief and a con-artist since he bought Chelski. But everyone was OK with that, because he was buying good players and "it was probably bullshit" - or easy to ignore.

So I'm glad that, finally, after nearly two decades, people now see Abramovich for what he is. A con artist, a criminal, a murderous cunt and friend and accomplice of tyrants.

It's fucking shit that it's taken Russia invading Ukraine to force people's eyes and opinions in that direction - and for posting about what a cunt he is to become a thing. Wij's twatter post above - yep - it's pretty much what I was told to STFU about in football threads when I pointed out that he's a criminal cunt and not to be trusted, lauded or praised - and that Chelski's success is built on corruption.

So - I'm very relevantly pointing out there's a lot of people like this cunt. Sitting right under our very noses stealing money from the british people - billions of it - when living standards are getting eroded at the worst pace in over 50 years, where the NHS is getting absolutely fucked over and when we need to be building infrastructure to help alleviate a global emergency (and reduce our dependence on Russia's energy supplies whilst we're at it).

But STFU eh Scouse. We don't want to look at that. We're reserving our anger for people a long way away and refuse to get angry about the crime in plain sight.

People can't really care about everything bad at once, can they? And we can't really have an opinion on everything. Social commentators ask, "how could we have let the holocaust happen?" but the truth is, what can we do about such things, other than discuss them, try to influence our friends, and thus change the political mood?

I'd like all Etonians to be banned forever from government and the Royal Family to be kicked into the sea, but it isn't going to happen. So I'll just tell anyone who asks that they're wankers, and hope it connects.

Which is 100% fine @Tom , but at least you don't wander round the forums shouting it at everyone in every thread, eh? Good man :)

So, exactly what I'm trying to do then.

Nothing I can say about Ukraine matters. But if I can draw parallels between criminals, then maybe, just maybe, someone will go "you know what, there's something in that".

Because you're pissing into the wind and we're all the ones that end up with piss soaked shoes. I wouldn't care of you could keep it in a related thread but you can't. Then to cap it off there's your ending to every post these days "j'accuse"

@Scouse is right, however, this is not the thread for it.

We need to do the right thing RE the environment but the only place that will change is at the ballot box.

We can do something now regaring Russia, and we are, we have to be very careful not to escalate it, where possible.

Also a new cold war would certainly not even consider the environment.

He's tried to position himself as the official EU interface with Putin, and failed on most counts, mostly because he's announced everything along the way. Maybe he thinks it's some elite psy ops, I refuse to believe he's naive enough to think Putin will follow through with an agreed plan just because it's been announced by the other side.

I think France is suffering from the same thing as Russia to be honest, there's now two parties who are campaigning for France to be relevant again, Macron sees that so is trying to appear as the diplomat for the up coming elections.

Problem is France Turkey and Greece are all NATO members; there's no way in Hell Putin could be seen letting them operate in Ukraine in any capacity; it's core to the whole house of cards he's built. If Macron had been serious rather than just grandstanding for electoral purposes, he'd have got a neutral third party to run the operation; India is the obvious candidate.

It's important to keep dialogue open but expecting Putin to do anything reasonable is dreaming.

Gaff is right though, we need neutral countries to apply pressure on Russia purely for humanitarian reasons - not for political reasons, Putin doesn't give a shit what we say or do, but he sure as shit will care what India has to say...

Found this more funny than I should have

"Putin running out of missiles because the components are made in the Ukraine."

India are waiting to see what China do.

Hardly surprisingly, China and India will just sit back and let it happen - China especially, they can only gain from sitting back and doing nothing... they do nowt and Russia becomes their bitch for the next 30+ years. They get involved and will likely get hit with sanctions themselves so why bother?
