It's money, a lot of money, going to Russia, that we're not stopping. That was the point under discussion at the start of this. - the morality of us giving money to Russia.

You pointed at the EU and went "what about them". We wouldn't be talking if you'd just gone: "yeah, it's only 5% but it's still a bit shit isn't it" - but you can't bring yourself to do that.

All you want to do is rage at the EU.
Much as all you really do is suggest people are hypocrites whilst being one? Nobody is going to check everything they have has nothing to do with Russia, the world's not that straightforward anymore.

This does however feel like if Putin isn't stopped, Taiwan will be next as it feels like Russia and China are waiting on line to take turns right now as a consequence of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan

Nah, Ukraine was invaded because the international response was 'please dont'.

America won't allow Taiwan to get invaded, and I don't see how the CCP could even try to without raising it to the ground first, then there would be little point taking it

But that's the point, this isn't the first "please don't" is it. Crimea... Nothing, Hong Kong... Nothing.

I'm not suggesting war here but we're sending messages to them that we talk a lot but nothing more.

That's because Ukraine didn't have any formal western protection, and Hong Kong technically is still within the rules of the transition, so we can't exactly be in uproar when they finally decide to fully incorporate it, because it was our idea.

We've got some pretty clear red lines, and Putin is fully aware of that.

Pretty sure I read earlier that even Kazakhstan have said "nah you're on your own mate", I mean how bad does Putin have to have fucked up if they won't help 2 months after he helped them out?

Credit where credit is due, Zelenskyy is a boss, not bad for a comedian.

Would you vote against Jonathan Pie being PM ?

I'd vote for a dead badger over BoJo.

But yeah, it would be nice to have some leadership that comes from somewhere other than the financial industry and/or the political elites.

Just waiting for Putin to cross the line and start attacking the suppliers of Ukraine, we have shifted some RAF assets nearer "for exercises"

We all know the Russian military is 10-15 years behind the curve.

Not a good thing at all, but we might not have much choice.

Also, we are still combat trained, Russians only have recent experience of dropping barrel bombs on marketplaces. Word is, the Russian boots on the ground are absolutely terrified.

Putin has massively overplayed his hand.

Again, Russian military is not 10-15 years behind the curve, they have very advanced weapons.

The problem is that they don't have the economy to use them properly, and I doubt they'd want to show their full hand against the likes of Ukraine, the intelligence to the West would be too good if they decided to do anything towards NATO in the future.
