Ukraine estimates Russian military losses so far to include:

  • 4,300 deaths
  • 27 planes
  • 26 helicopters
  • 146 tanks
  • 706 armoured fighting vehicles
  • 49 cannons
  • 1 Buk air defence system
  • 4 Grad multiple rocket launch systems
  • 30 vehicles
  • 60 tankers
  • 2 drones
  • 2 boats
These stats can't be remotely accurate right?

I mean, it's gotta be up there in the deadliest first/second day of any conflict in history if it's true...

It can’t be that far off. How else have they failed to take a major city yet?

I can't imagine how high the Ukranian losses are.

I was just saying to a mate, how much coverage have you seen on the eastern front? Because I've seen nothing, I bet there's a constant bloody battle raging with lots of people dying.

While the Ukrainian resistance is definetely impressive and admirable, gloves are off now. Without claiming to be an expert on wars, on the contrary I would say - Russia is too far in, they can't pull back or stop, which means it is likely for their offensive to start making breaches and inflict a lot of damage to UA military as well as civilians and infrastructure.

It'll turn very ugly before we can speak of an end. Whatever that end will be, I don't think Ukraine will emerge victorious out of this. I would like it if they did, but rationally speaking, chances are very very low.

Unfortunately, this is bound to happen. The currency needs to be trashed and their access to other currencies needs to be removed, along with asset freezes. It is the only way to fight Russia without using the military.

Russia's tactics are all wrong, they are showing why traditional ground assaults against well equipped, entrenched opposition is hugely costly. This ain't a Syrian marketplace.

I mean its not boots on the ground but it almost brings a tear to my eye seeing various nations (some of which you wouldn't expect it from like Turkey) all doing a little bit to help the Ukraine.

Columns on roads in urban environments, correct me if I'm wrong but you take out the lead vehicle and everything behind has to stop and manoeuvre around it. Take out others in the middle, and you have mayhem. And the Ukrainian forces have lots of NLAW rocket launchers, which can do serious damage to armour.

Apparently they only need to be guided for the first 3 seconds, after which they do the rest themselves. They can be set to explode above the target, where armour is weakest. Or they can set to hit the target directly, like a lorry, or a helicopter.

Those convoys are also full of inexperienced teenagers who really have been treated disgracefully by the Russians, so it's all just fucking awful.
