I've worked in a telecoms industry, I would say 90% of the jobs above the guys who actually build the hardware, could be done by AI running on an ipod.

Wait till the liberals lose their jobs to AI..then we'll see a supertrump voted in.
Sureply that was the same as the luddites and people losing jobs to the automation of the industrial age?

Who exactly thought that globalisation, with all that is involved, was going to go smoothly, it is a disaster waiting to happen...happened.

And the alternative would be? Putting up trade barriers and bringing back twentieth century jobs might make everyone feel great for about five minutes, but in the meantime the rest of the world continues to move forward and your added value exports (which in the US is the software industry and military) are rendered uncompetitive by tariffs because you've started a trade war. Protectionism and blue collar job creation - the fast track to turning yourself into a third world country.

You're absolutely correct that white collar jobs are going to be automated in the same way as the working class, but sticking your head in the sand and trying to wind the clock back isn't the answer; figuring out a new way for people to have a quality of life is the answer, but the US, with its aversion to all things "socialist", is just about the worst country on Earth to grasp that particular nettle.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that the US has to break up. I don't see how the likes of California and New England can share the same government as the South and the Mid-west; it makes the differences between the UK and EU look like a minor disagreement in comparison.

Ultimately..and I mean in the next 50 years...globalisation will be defunct..we won't have to trade in the same way, we won't need cheap chinese labour to build electronics, machines will build machines and the only trading will be new ideas, trends, fashion and rebellion.
A 3D printer can build your Note 32 in 2050, this is a transitional period for humanity, back away from 'jobs', that began only 200 years ago.
There is such chaos ahead, I'm not sure wether anything we do now will actually make much difference.

To summarize

Immigrant president banning some refugee's based on religion, refugee's that are trying to escape a war-torn environment the USA helped kickstart.

I'm guessing the reason for the debate is when the solution to a problem effectivly involves sending us back to the dark ages to live in a cave, some of us would like the verify that it is actually a problem in the first place.
But the only way we're ever going to know for SURE if there's a problem or not is when it's way too fucking late to do something about it. Because that's the way humanity works..

I really don't see how a federal judge can just decide himself to put a block on the ban.
I think he'll be getting a visit real soon.
Did he 'think' through his decision..I mean the customs are still observing the ban, the power of the courts are being tested on both sides of the pond.

Well she can but the ruling is in effect very narrow and only has to do with those who were legally already authorized to enter the US.

Because the Constitution > what ever the President says.

It's due to this odd little quirk of the civilised world...I believe they refer to is as law.

What? Are you supporting full-on Naziism?

Judges are going to get 'visits' for ruling on points of law? - i.e. Doing their jobs.

You clearly are so woefully educated that you don't have even the very basic grasp of how the rule of law works.

Probably why Trump appeals to you so much. You're his demographic :(

It has to go through a due process, the judge can't just announce it the next day.
Quite clearly, no arguments, no legal challenges..just...'I say this'
It may be a loophole for an emergency temp hold, but this judge is putting himself in a very difficult situation.
As posted it does just apply to a very small number of people, ..oh and he's a she.
Anyway, does she not have peers or challengers, judges just call it now do they, scan through the papers and announce blocks to policies.

@Job @Job mate, you blithering idiot. Just deciding to ban people due to their nationality is not following due process, it is against the constitution. A judge has said what he has done is illegal because it is, it needs to follow due process...ie law.

Yes, but you can't just announce it, things go against the constituion all the time, you don't just pick a judge out of the air and ask them to fix it over the phone.

I find it incredible that Job finds it acceptable for a President to come into power and they have absolute power.

I don't know what to make of this "muslim" ban. I've spent a good hour this morning reading about the huge number of people, almost all non-muslim, caught up this in this ridiculous shit-storm. Trump is a cunt, Islam is a cunt, but this is all a bag of cunt to the power of cunt. I haven't got the time and energy to go into the obvious reasons, but what the fuck are 'we' going to do about this moronic state of affairs?
