GF's best friend is ~300km from the epi-centre so she is going crazy atm, since no one has heard from her yet..

They found her.. She's a doctor so she has been busy helping out people all day and she came back home at around 1am local time. She simply had her hands full helping so she couldn't get in contact with anyone

Its still extremely active - usually after the big quake the energy is depleted - you get a few aftershocks of lower magnitude and it calms down but this area is still jumping around.

Theres been a 6.0 a 6.2 and a 6.8 this morning not to mention dozens of 5's - 48 aftershocks of Mag 4.5 or greater by my count so far today.

I just compared the size of those buildings with Wylfa or Trawsfynydd plants (which are local to me). The TV pics are on telezoom lenses and shrink the apparent size. Those buildings are big, and one of them has had it's shell blown apart.

This video has a before and after comparison.
And the evacuation zone has now been extended to 20km.
Yeah, this has got worse since it started.

Nearly 10,000 people missing in one town alone it seems.

Reports: 9,500 Missing in Japan Coastal Town Minamisanriku

If accurate then the deathtoll is going to skyrocket over the next few days as alot of small towns were badly hit.

Well. All it says is that only 7500 were evacuated. It doesn't say everyone that wasn't evacuated is dead or missing...

Still horrific ofc but I wouldn't read too much into the media dramatisation.
