They should be able to speak their mind in a constructive manner not mouth off at a TV Camera just because things do not go their way. The ref was crap and while some of your players acted properly 3 of them were petulant children and deserved very long bans.

Depends how you look at it, the refs mistakes potentially cost them champs league tropthy so its understandable they would get angry, they should have been punished for it but the ref should have been punished for being so crap aswell. The ref wasnt punished or even said sorry so therefor its ok the players punishments reducted imo.

I must admit I had to have a wry smile at fans of the "big four" calling for ways to combat Man City's extra-spending power. It is the "big four"'s spending power that allowed them to get where they are now and to dominate English and European competition ... but now they're under threat something needs to be done apparently :p

I don't mind clubs spending big now and again - Ferguson has paid over the odd a few times, but he is getting better. The problem is that clubs crank up the price when big teams come calling and if we really want the player we have to pay. I'm glad we have a good solid youth system as well as good players that are bought in. Also spending within the clubs means (not borrowing money to buy) should be mandatory -the debt of the big clubs (barring arsenal) is from the takeovers, not because of their poor spending. Just look at the fate of Leeds and Newcastle to see what happens to teams that do not control their finances well. I realise that City are spending within their means, but the problem is that it ruins the market for everyone else.

Drogba is a **** and does not deserve to get off with a lighter ban, Ballack maybe, but Drogba should serve that full ban.

Now that really is "a fucking disgrace". They should kick the team out of the CL for a season, let alone reduce the bans. UEFA is much too soft on the successful teams. I balked at calling Chelsea a big team there, sorry.

I bet UEFA loved what happened after the match, not only did they get their wish with Barcelona going through but all the shit got transferred from the ref to ours players.

I'd be quite happy to accept any punishment had UEFA or the referee apologised over their ineptitude, but they never did so they can go fuck themselves.

Bosingwa being banned at all is bullshit. Poor little fella barely even speaks English and retracted his comments anyway. Drogba shouldnt have swore, but sky shouldnt have replayed it, it wasn't even live. They went back and replayed it with his comments at an audible level. I can understand his frustration because that game was bullshit, infact i like him more since then.

ps. Turamber is a tool.

I agree with megadave, we all know where Uefa's, and particuarly Platini's, interests lie within the Champions League. The bottom line is they don't care about the English teams, like when you talk about the violence in Rome and now the injustice in the semi-final.

It does not matter how crap the Ref was (and he was) all of the chel$ki players should have acted like Lampard and gone down the tunnel. If they then slagged of the ref it would of had more impact than the way they tried to intimidate him on the pitch

Erm, Drogba swearing into the camera WAS live. Yes sky replayed it, however Im certain it was live after the game as well because I remember being shocked at sky then replaying it and having to apologise.

Whilst I don't disagree it is a complete disgrace that Bosingwa can give interviews to journalists claiming that ref's have been bribed. If it had been some small time team that behaved like that after pluckily playing for a 0-0 draw and getting caught out by a big team you could bet the book would have been thrown at them.

And, I'm truly sorry, but Chelsea aren't a big club. As soon as Roman disappears you will sink back into mediocrity.

"No where else to put this really , but mOe over at TLW , who is straight up and knows his stuff has said the following -

Hi Peeps,

Ian Ayre is on his way to Madrid to finalise the Alonso transfer. Xabi will not travel with the squad to Asia.

The fee is not yet clear but it should be upwards of 25 million quid. The original decision was to hold out for 30, but time is a vital factor in re-shaping the first team, and Rafa felt he needed to act quickly.

The complete funds will be given to Rafa to re-invest, on top of what he already has.

Xabi has made it clear that he will no longer play for Liverpool (or Benitez I guess), and with that in mind, there was no alternative. He wanted to leave. Whether it's because of what happened last season is unclear, but it's a move back to his home country, it's Real's new galactico era and so it must have been really tempting for him.

One of my favourite players, and the memories of watching him controlling games at Anfield will stay with me forever.

On a positive note, negotiations have begun on the Chief's new contract. He should sign a new three year deal which sees him double his wages."

:/

Good deal for RM if true, they need a proper player at all those primadonnas :)

Chelsea are a big club. How can you say they arent? Jealousy? And chelsea were still up there even before Roman arrived.

They have absolutely no history whatsoever. Even after their successful run they are nowhere near the top six most successful English teams of all time.

Before Roman arrived they were about to be Leeds Mark Two with an unsustainable business model.

And it has nothing to do with jealousy, I know a number of Chelsea fans that were fans in the 80's and 90's -- even they can't stand the legions of plastic fans that have suddenly come out of the woodwork. Unfortunately it is the price that fans have to pay when their club sells its soul.

Agreed, history doesn't lie. Villa are a big club, decent crowds and a trophy haul to match.

WE still finished in top 4 or top 6 most years. Any tbh its all moot , the past is the past and all that matters is the rpesent and atm villa are nothing compared to chelsea. Greece was once the most powerfull nation in the world but does that mean we class them like that forever?. Having a rich history and being a big club do not always go hand in hand.

Another example is how highly ranked England football team is despite the fact it lacks a "rich" history

Actually Villa have alot more top 4 or top 6 finishes than Chelsea, especially before the Russian took over. 26 top 4 finishes to Chelsea's 12 and that is since the league began.

Lots of money sure, lots of fans? Well good numbers and growing so sure. Trophies won? Not that great. History of being a top club? Pretty poor, spent an awful lot of it's history in the second tier.

History means very little. We play in the present, and at the present Chelsea are a big club. I am not a Chelsea fan, but even I can see that at the moment they are :).
