Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Lyon to sign Karim Benzema, according to the player's agent.

Also, it appears it was first reported in Marca. I'll wait till a more reputable source reports it, sounds like classic noise making by Madrid via Marca -and greedy agents.

However I wouldn't rule it out given Real's recent spending.

Me and my mate where joking about that the other day -Benzema is gone, who is left. Don't want to pay silly money for Aguero, Villa or Silva etc, don't want to take a risk on some unknown - sign owen, free and with pedigree! Something about a card school during England duty and Rooney ended up owing Micheal Owen's best friend over £100,000 which Owen apparently applied alot of pressure to get Rooney to stump up. The story was widely reported in the press and roughly since that time Owen has not been picked regualrly for the England squad since so there may well be some truth in it.
