Croydon looks the worst so far. Absolute fucking idiots.

I want to know why the police weren't taking a more hardline stance. water cannons, rubber bullets. Disperse the crowd hard and make them fear returning.

These people are not interested in the countries finances, it's not as if they contribute to them.

The country has enough finance problems as it is. This will have caused millions and millions in policing, damage and insurance etc. I just heard a Croydon MP on the news mentioning how will they move on from this, how can they move on from this? What type of business would want to start up there with all the violence and looting.

Idiots.

The irony being that if the common belief that the majority of the rioters are from low-income backgrounds turns out to be true, it will be those that caused the damage that will suffer most. Can't agree more that the long-term implications of all this are worrying in the least.

I did. Read better. The newspapers are merely used as a reference point to general opinion in society, it's an easy and common reference point to help what I'm saying be understood. Nothing more.

Ok, very simply, yes simple. Answer the following for me:

You are a Police Officer, you have been pushed to the frontline in a riot that is currently happening across Eureka. You will not be paid for this. The crowd you face have torched buildings, cars, personal property, injured other Police Officers.

Your orders are to hold the line and try to stop them doing more damage. Bear in mind that you have seen your fellow Officers hurt attempting to do the same, ie protect and serve.

Right, understand the above? It is simple enough to comprehend. Now, tell us all how you feel....

I told you I have NOT read a newspaper in several days. Read better.

Am I one of them?

I already answered your question.

Looks like Leeds is next:

BBC News - Man shot in face in Chapeltown street

Frightening.

No you haven't. Reply to my last post. This one.

It's a rephrased version of your previous question, the same answer holds true. As for not reading a newspaper for days, what does that have to do with using them as a reference point in the general sense? Newspapers don't change ideologies on a weekly basis.

Eskdee, I know lots of people that have been in trouble wiht the police and have not lived a clean life. It comes with growing up in south london, there is not one person I know agreeing with any actions right now. These people that were once gang members and thugs are all calling for harder police action, military intervention etc. I suppose with older age comes a sense of perspective. None of this helps anyone, and those kids that end up with criminal records from this will fuck their futures more than any perceived bleak outlook they previously had.

A friend who is Armed Response requalified recently on a baton gun, so they are still in the Arsenal, they just need someone in charge with the balls to authorise their use.

I think it's going to come sooner rather than later.

I didn't say you did, you however seem to indicate that the root issue is people hitting back at the police. I'm just pointing out that a lot of people with bad feelings towards the police around here are not happy with the troubles.

Trying to find out if a flat my dad owns in west croydon is fucked or not now.

Had some friends evacuate their homes in west croydon earlier thankfully.

Personally I've never blindly believed the media but neither am I stupid enough to think it is just the media blowing it out of proportion nor that somehow doing nothing will stop a bunch of people with the same morals of pond scum.

The whole issue at the moment is the feeling the scum of the world has been let loose and the police just aren't being proactive enough and again those of us in the law abiding category feel let down and even some will feel pushed towards more extreme ideas in dealing with the situation.

The fact you just blindly call them all 'scum' is so frightening to me. Sadly I believe you represent the majority in that kind of belief.

Fair, sorry. Have a bunch of friends in London right now who don't feel safe sleeping in their homes tonight. Really crazy. I'm supposed to be moving to Brixton soon. Heh.

Apparently Cameron is flying back for an 'emergency meeting' about all this. Great leader we have that it takes rioting for this long before he breaks up his little holiday.

Beating a copper up for trying to protect public property is just retarded. People whine when they use riot shields, people whine when they stop them by using kettling.

What do you suggest they do to stop these fuckknuckles? A leaflet campaign? A nice little sit down?

This is peoples property and communities getting destroyed by dickheads who really couldn't care less about other people and their right to enjoy a peaceful life. Fuck them.

I stand by my comment, scum who deny others the right to their freedom and peace should be treated like the scum they are, this includes middle class pricks who have no concept of working for something and are quite happy to smash it up in their school holidays.

Raven, this statement could not be more true. My concern at the moment and the concern of many of us is the safety of the public, people who have no involvement in the violence are being dragged into it by having their homes broken into and possessions stolen.

Things escalated further today but the situation should begin to become under control.

Protests spread across middle eastern countries though social media. Riots spread across the UK because chavy little cunts want a new TV and don't even want to wait for enough dole money to buy it. All while our cops continue to get slagged off no matter what they do. Reading some of the replies here makes me feel so sorry for police officers.

The response from the government has been shocking.

Embattle; you are spot on, I don't want curfews or martial law, or more powers to our government. However I don't want this situation either. My friend said earlier "if we were in China they would have blocked all the social networks people used to organise this on the first day" - how long before that becomes a reality of the back of this?

As for the cause of this, I still believe it's opportunistic idiot youths who don't understand who are causing the most damage.

Its a labour council where the rioting is taking place.

You're just being silly now.

Why am I? You have not answered my question about putting yourself in the place of the copper in the picture. So far you have avoided the question/answer. Regardless of that, I would ask that you answer my question (which allowed you to disregard everything in this thread)....
