1956: Canning Town seems to be calming down now. Groups of men have reportedly gathered in pubs in Eltham and are waiting for looters to show up. Apparently Millwall fans are patrolling the area, looking for confirmation there.

I know quite a few west ham fans in pubs on the high street too. Who would have thought hoodies would bring such bitter enemies together? ;p

I don't agree with his insurrection views, but I do think he is right that something was coming. It's very us and them with youngsters in most parts of London.

The simplistic retort to that will now be that they'll have something to search for now, although that is another problem when they start actually trying to find all the stuff that was looted.

Tenants from the flats upstairs and the adjoining buildings came running down and chased them off it seems. Still glass shop-front fucked, they couldn't board it up earlier, and it's going to look shit for a while now until the trouble stops and the insurance pays out.

BUT... the british insurer organisation place was interviewed and they said in the vast amount of cases both private and commercial insurance will cover the damage, businesses of course would need the additional business interuption insurance for the loss of earnings from not being able to open/lost all stock etc
