Inflammatory headline, in no sense there were the police charged.

Just watched the video, saw lots of people run at the police, not into them. In my opinion that still counts as charging at the Police.

That's just despicable, approaching a level of cuntishness (but still not on the same level, obviously) that was on display in that video of the chinese people beating that boy in the streets a few weeks ago. :(

Theresa May doesn't want to put on her army eyes, she prefers "policing by consent". Honestly, she sounded almost as bad as Ed Milliband with his stock answers a few weeks ago. Robust policing, good use of intelligence and help from the community (I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember her exact wording. I should though, the amount of times she repeated it). Good luck with that. It might help in the long run to bring people to justice (except all the ones with masks on natch) but it ain't gonna stop the looting.

So how would you describe a large crowd of people running at a police line then?

It's ok folks. "Robust Policing" will sort it all out.

On the plus side, at least we don't have to endure England getting thumped by Holland in the Friendly.

Toh, perhaps not the best time for your unique style of humour ;)

Might balance the aggression on this thread and i've never seen boobies harm a situation :D

But yeah, i'll let the rabble go on and get all serious. Did wish the best on all involved already and that's the only real thing that matters here.

Fucking scum, I hope they all get caught, forced to clear up and have their benefits stopped.

Glad to see the IQ level of this thread has improved over night. It stuns me that you can be so stupidly reactionary, even over such an emotive issue. You don't have to support their behaviour, far from it, but this sort of attitude is exactly what fans the flames of what is going on.

So do you suggest the police reward them with cookies?
Actions have consequences and they obviously never learnt that when everyone else did at 2 years old.

No, I don't. Disliking needless reactionary rhetoric doesn't mean I expect this to be cleared up with hugs and handshakes. Does that actually have to be spelt out for you? Christ.

Personally I think we should put them all on a ship and then sink it in the middle of the atlantic. Also, eksdee how is Ravens post needless reactionary rhetoric? Anywhere else in the world they would get far worse treatment than that.

They wouldn't have hands left if this happened in Saudi .. its moving onto a different topic which I wish not to do, but im sure people would have thought twice about looting if they knew what the consequences could have been.

and therin lies the problem
no respect for authority, and even IF they are caught, they will get a slap on the wrist. if we beheaded people for looting, i bet you we wouldnt have had the turn out we did (not that im suggesting that..)

To be fair, i'm inclined to partly agree here with eksdee. Suggesting killing everyone involved isn't exactly cool rolling, but this doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished accordingly.

That's about it, fence sitting at it's best.

The issue is quite clearly far too complex for an extreme response on either side of the 'fence'. You'd be hard-pressed to find any of the Daily Hate brigade here who would see the logic in that, though. I've gone from being mildly perturbed by the response to this to being quite honestly sickened by how willfully ignorant some of you are. I couldn't care less whether your opinions are different, but the lack of perspective is just shocking beyond belief.

Im just stating, which could be pretty much classed as fact, that if a harsher punishment, such as chopping looters hands off, as in Saudi .. then im sure there wouldn't be so many people doing it.

only 2 things keep people in check;
respect or fear
they have no respect, so they need fear

And what happened here hasnt fueled my thoughts on punishments even more. The human rights act brought in by Labour has caused so many problems and needs to be scrapped.
