Reminded me of the old TV series Space 1999 & UFO from the 70's. So had to look it up.

Whiteface parade.

If you'd ever been there you would have seen the whitening product adverts. Quite hilarious in this day and age but the caste system is alive and well. Different culture...

It was pretty funny, the dick pic demeaned it a bit, but then we would never have heard of it.

A $999 monitor stand for the new Mac Pro display elicits only a muted gasp from the audience. Apple must be pissing themselves.

Apparently its 199 dollars for a vesa conversion kit so you can mount the monitor on a standard wall bracket.

Why they dont just manufacture so its vesa compliant who knows.

Then they couldnt charge $200 for a $10 component...

Exactly, they could easily have included a VESA mount on the monitor and the stand but Apple don't like adhering to standards, they'd rather go off and do their own thing and then charge you through the nose for it. Every monitor I've had for the last ~15 years has had a VESA mount on it (apart from a 19" LG screen from ages ago).

People who are going to buy this are going to be spending upwards of $25k on the higher-specced versions so I guess Apple thought they could massively inflate the price of the stand and nobody would bat an eyelid.

Flying out of Schiphol this afternoon; glory be, you no longer have to strip naked and empty half your bags at security! No fluids in a bag nonsense, no shoes off, no laptops out, just had to take off my belt. CIVILISATION HAS RETURNED. Only took nearly 20 years to figure it out.

Still had to walk 4 billion miles to my gate, but you can't have everything

Hasn't it been proved that heightened airport security hasn't done much in the way of preventing terrorism anyway?

It's more about making people feel like they're safer.
