Have a think about that in terms of what it'd be like not just in monetary and educational terms but also in hugely advantageous physical and intellectual traits.

Then think about who's going to get access to that. Who's going to benefit.

Then think about what's going to happen to the people who get left behind and their kids. And what happens to populations of people who aren't just seen as inferior, but are inferior.

Then, when you recover from the horror, imagine the billion other things.

I'm talking about removing major ailments, which would mean social mobility because there's many parents who have to look after their child 24/7 and neglects the other children, not at their own fault.

And if that was the line then it would be fine, but it won't be the line. Even "major ailments" is a battle line; I personally have no issues with selecting out Downs, congenital deafness, dwarfism etc. and yet there are communities vehemently opposed to this (and I'm not talking religious groups). And then the issue is going to be that everyone will draw the line in a different place and eventually we'll end up with selecting for eye colour and height, then intelligence, but personally I think anything to do with cognition is a very long way off, and fraught with unintended consequences.
