If you watched the video i posted its also to do with religion. A lot of catholic poor countries that prohibit contraception so have massve families.9 billion is sustainable apparently, but again, every doom and gloom statistician has pointed out that having families in developed countries is fine - because people have 2.4 children which as dys points out is sustainable.
It's in developing countries where they have 9-10 children so they can provide for them when they are old.
Same issue, money, same fix, money.
And in countries that go through educating women and have contraception available to them the birth rate goes down.
Also if medicine improves then they dont need so large families cause death rates fall. And children are likely to survive to look after them.
Lastly 9 billion depends on standard of living and consumption. If everyone consumed like usa or eu then no thats no sustainable.
