There's ofcourse going to be some fanboi'ism behind judgements of childhood stuff(just wait for TMNT ) and can't really turn it off, which is why i'm willing to give it a shot before caling it shite. Though if it is, changes like that will be prominent

I think the problem is that movie execs have "been faithful to the source material" in the past, in order to get the fanboy element on board (as" influencers" as well as paying customers), but the fanboys do nothing but moan, and it turns out they aren't that influential (living in their Mom's basement doesn't give one much authority), and the source is often so convoluted and overwritten (e.g. anything to do with the X-Men) as to be meaningless anyway.
