Any generic german low CO2 figured diesel tends to be driven by a bell-end, not just Audis.

VAG cars are very popular with the fleet and company car markets, so they're driven by Joe Management with 2.4 kids - they're probably frustrated because they don't have sex anymore. In my experience, it's Vectra / Insignia drivers that drive like fucking cocks.
Most companies don't do company cars any more. It's all leases through agencies.

Speaking of driving, I booked twenty lessons today. It cost me ~£450. Fucking hell. Not only that, but three of those are basically the driving test. Oh and that was another £62.

How many lessons did it take you guys to learn? My test is in a months time. I really fucking hope I can do it in 17 lessons (hours). I had about 5 lessons when I was 19 but when I saw the car insurance prices I just gave up.

Oh and any recommendations for a first car between £2,000-£3,000?

thats pretty cheap, in Finland these days the base cost (as there is a legal minimum instructor led practice sessions before you are allowed to take the test) is somewhere between €2000 - 3000 to get the base licence, you then have to do another test within two years to prove you can drive in bad conditions (snow / ice etc) either on the snow & ice or in a simulated environment and thats another €100 or so (plus any extra lessons you might need)

edit: if you dont take the extra test within two years you lose your base licence and have to start again :p

The Audi front end behind you it's quite distinctive and so you notice it... I have bellends driving behind me lots. Unless it's a merc, Audi or beamer I'd struggle to identify it. Also article prooves.... nothing.... It's Australians, they are fucking horrible drivers.

not sure youre allowed to complain about people making generalisations and then end with that :p

It's lovely, that vid of the a1 makes me consider downsizing in a year or so though!

Aye it's a sweet little car, I'm looking at something a bit smaller on the car scheme and the A1 offers luxury and pace with great CO2 figures. Current plans are to get the A1 TFSI 185 bhp 7 speed stronic, the S1's CO2 figures are too high so it's off the list :(.

Your insurance prices won't be any cheaper now... stick with a small engined hatch.

A little jap car or maybe a fiesta for a first car, should be able to pick something up for that price and the insurance group should be pretty low.

Agree with raven, but fiestas aren't actually that cheap to insure. The jap brands will be.

I'd passed (first time) by lesson 7. When I did it it was a tenner for an hour's lesson. By lesson 4 the instructor said I was the best driver he'd ever taught :p

What he didn't say was that he only started teaching a week before ;)

I had my 1st lesson on my birthday at the start of June and the instructor said I was very good and got me to fill out the test form that day and send it off. I must have been full of myself because the next 2 lessons I couldn't have done any worse with my eyes closed, he said 'did you send that form off' I said yes and he said 'ahh....well nevermind'

I passed 3 months later 1st time, and I suppose I had 1 lesson a week, so around 12 lessons, but they were £8.50 each back then with no theory and no parallel parking (which I still cant get right 27 yrs later)

I passed first time after a bunch of lessons from my dad. So I didn't have to pay for driving lessons. Took my test in the snow too which was fun.

absolutely. any adverse condition driving is an absolute plus. way better to get some instruction than finding out what to do "in the moment" so to speak 0o

They reckon on average a lesson for each year of your life. I passed second time, not sure how many lessons I had but it must have been around 20. (I passed on my 18th birthday, bought my first car a month after, had my first car crash two weeks later. I'm under no illusions about my driving ability back then).

Yeah I knocked a guy over 2 weeks after I passed my test, I was a shit driver, and tbh I don't think I'm that much better now
