It is not a case of falling for it. If you need the Data on that PC you have no choice but to roll the dice and pay. One of our customers got this while his backup drive was connected to his PC. Every file on the backup drive was corrupted too. He paid and he got his data back but this was before the CIA were on the war path. This is the nastiest virus I have ever seen and he got it when his Rugby Forum was hacked visited a page and 20 minutes later all his data was gone."Moved on to home users" one would assume that's because more tech savvy people would simply not fall for it, quite sad really, if it happened to me i'd just nuke my HDD, they can kiss my arse if they think i'd pay some back room internet hero money to unlock my PC.
Silver surfers are for more likely to get infected and pay up. Any business with a clue would have backups that would pull them out of any shit. This virus is aimed at one man bands and home users. If the idea is to make money then going after innocents is sound business. Why why why target innocents, I can understand corporations but seriously.....
caLLous said:Exactly, it's not like they have a functioning moral compass. They are trying to make money and they will go after the easiest targets.
