there used to be a smashing conker tree in the park behind my school in the UK. I loved it so much I went to say goodbye to it when we moved to the continent :'(

The mother in law keeps them in bowls around her house to keep away spiders - she is a hippie though...

I got the kids to refer to her as Grandma Conkers - I'm probably going to pay for that eventually tho...

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/terrorism-in-the-uk/10365026/GCHQ-leaks-have-gifted-terrorists-ability-to-attack-at-will-warns-spy-chief.html

What a load of crap - if terrorists have been using the net blithely believing it to be unmonitored I would be frankly amazed.

Saying we are more at risk than ever is patently untrue - major coordinated attacks are now far less likely. Only relatively small and unsophisticated attacks are now likely and more people are killed by cyclists than those...

Still fear gets you budget it seems.

"including from “several thousand” Islamist extremists who are living here and want to attack the country, Mr Parker said."

Yeah, those kind of comments really help with stereotypes and unity in a nation :p

omg, just played the most nerve racking game of CS:GO ever, score was 15-14, 1v1, 10 seconds to go, knew where he was, 5 bullets left, in his head.

Hollywood can't do that shit.

Why are you browsing Mumsnet is the bigger question? :p

I read some of the comments but then I took an arrow to my depression :(

used to be quite the harlot

she used to be a sex fiend, then she had kids. Spoke to a mate just now, he told me he was moving away from the city. I asked why. He said: "once you have kids you'll understand".

Going from what other people say and do I am currently hoping I will never have kids because it turns one into an unsexed depression wracked nervous wreck :(

I was supposed to write a System Area Definition (aptly accro'd to SAD) but instead I made hypercubes and hyperballs.

Bexhill to Aberystwyth. Booking it all on one ticket? £94 return. Booking it for the same day, same route and same times. £57 return breaking it down into individual journeys. Work that out.

I was walking on the pavement minding my own business when all of the sudden a lorry smashed in to a concrete pillar(those dwarf height rounded at the top ones) the pillar went up at an angle, broke the base of it, then reversed and done a 3 point turn going over the middle island that led it up to this mini roundabout. It just kept going.

Nearly died, protected gf from the ewul lorry of concrete smashville.

Saw a motorcycle try to undertake a car at a round about. Car was indicating for the first exit.

Did not end well for the cyclist. Read in the local rag that the cyclists family is suing the driver......

Shouldn't you get in touch with the police?

I gave the car driver my details at the time, heard from him a while ago saying that it had been closed up and i wasn't needed. Due to CCTV cameras, other witnesses etc.

The thing in the local paper came along recently so he may get in touch, fairly sure my details are in the polices hands already...but tbh I doubt it'll go to court.

For sometime now, i've been building up static charge in the office, either due to my shoes or the carpet or something. Eitherway its become a fact of life for me in the office.

Shook hands with a visiting director of another company....sent him squealing away. Shock hands \o/

Thats what i've been wondering aswell! It was originally taken into ..not court but...verdict of death? ... to ascertain the drivers fault. Was dismissed as not his fault entirely....so no idea where this has come from really....

No win no fee solicitors trying it on - good payout if they won.

Sickens me - What makes it worse is the fact that the family is trying to do it on the back of their grief, I'd imagine the driver is going through similar grief, especially if he goes to court thinking 'They think I -killed- him'

Sad :(
