The question is are YOU ready to

"actualize your long term event horizons in a way that synergises with the companies overriding mission statement to be a company that breeds superstars from within and helps them grow into a vast oaks among the forest of hungry eagles?"

Being a designer i actually have to write that kind of hubbabubba bullsh*t on a regular basis :p

aah those were the days, when full page ads contained lots of text...instead of a scantily clad person and a brand.

Amazing to think that the memory in that ZX80 couldn't even handle the size of a basic email message now

More amazing is what bedroom coders could fit into something smaller than an email. Dizzy for example.

Been wakeboarding for the first time since I tore my medial collateral ligament doing it 5 years ago.

Day on a boat. Sunburned. Wake-to-wake faceplant action. Great. :D

Knee hurts tho :(
Gotta love (hate?) those eyeball peelers eh? :D

I don't know what happend really. Missed the time back in the days when you used to read the game manual of a game you bought the day before you played it. You'd study it and read up on the game before playing it. Miss that magic a little bit.

yeah, like when you HAD to read the manual or would have no clue at all what to do. and besides the fact that you actually had to learn something (omg!!) the games still had massive (re)playability. I miss that.

what you smoking, fool?
games are more replayable than ever. What's changed is that you've grown up and have less time to play the same game over and over and enjoy it. You prioritise new stuff because it's new.

I'm sorry? I should be asking you the same question. Near EVERY current game holds your hand to the extent that you could play with your eyes closed and while drunk or semi-comatose (eg how I imagine most console players play games), and has the replayability of being smacked in the face with a week old cod (cough cough joke lol erm bbq wtf).

So WoW isn't replayable? It's the most replayable game in the history of games (and your mum). The FF games, elder scrolls games, angry birds, words with friends. stuff like GTA V isnt replayable as such, you just don't ever stop playing it. The main story is just a tutorial for the game universe.

SOME games are crap, yes, but I reckon that's just because you play crap games that are not designed for long term enjoyment.

That's because you got spanked, hard, in your 10 minutes of quake live.

There's as many good games today as there was before, problem is that there's 10 times the games there was before so only 10% are good games :p

Too many check points and auto saves nowadays for my liking.

Resident Evil, you had to think whether to use your ammunition or not, and you had to carry ribbons for the typewriter to save it. That's what I miss, fucking it up and being punished for it. Not walking 15 feet killing a mob and the game hitting a check point.

I said "near" Chillbacon, dayum man! What I mean with replayable is the lust to keep playing after you beat the game. Of recent times the only game where I have that is Civ 5. I've beaten that so many times I've lost count but keep coming back to it. I notice I also had it with some of the X universe games, eg the game would let me define my own goals so I went for total universe domination with my corporation. I imagine that I would also have this with a game like EVE, but I am extremely careful to not play that because it would consume my time to an extent that I may as well give up getting the degree or working lol

Re your examples, I have played several of the FF games; I find them terminally dull, they're not for me. I have played *all* the TES games I like them because the visuals, certainly in recent times, are pretty but once you've made it to a top level monster then (imo) you're fucked because things will never get better than that. Quests make things marginally better, but you end up with an uber char and that's it really. The good thing about the social games is the social element. I *like* playing games with mates to the extent that that particular enjoyment outweighs my terminal boredom of remembering how to do things. This remembering is why I love story based atmospheric games like for example Amnesia, but can only play it once: I remember everything and that's a real pain in the arse. So there.

Watch Tom Kerridge's new TV show
He's the chap who owns the only 2 star Michelin pub in Britain
You can stick your Nigel Slaters and Anthony Warrell Thompson up your ass. Kerridge does proper simple hearty food
YUM

I watched that. He did make some very yummy food. He made things that looked very easy to do but still be amazing.
