Dogs are unpredictable...there isnt one on the planet that could be trusted not to revert to wolf instincts when stimulated by a situation that for some unknown reason kicks it off..when you mix this with lightning speed and aggression it makes for nasty shit.

Massive facepalm.

It was a previously docile dog that flipped in a way she'd never seen when it saw me. When it did that she couldn't tie it up.

How exactly is she supposed to predict that?

You accept the fact that the dog is very dangerous to any human. You accept the fact that dogs are potentially unpredictable (regardless of their nature in the past). Given that they let you in the house, how can you say they shouldn't have taken precautions?

Are you just slow today ileks?

How were they supposed to know that before it flipped? Before it flipped it was just another dog.

Edit: Unless you're seriously suggesting we should tie up and muzzle all dogs at home?

Yeah...... that really doesn't tell us a lot though does it

Your imagination is probably better than any description.

Put it this way. Her mum used to be a "dancer", and at 50+ I still would ;)

If you're going to let a stranger in and have a potentially dangerous dog just put the fucking thing in another room, in the garden, tie it up or put a muzzle on.

If a kid came round their house and it went for them then I think it's entirely Jody's fault. You don't. Fair enough.

ALL dogs are "potentially dangerous". Are you proposing that owners lock up their dogs every time a visitor arrives?

Come on, not all dogs are potentially dangerous. In the case of those that are (i.e. the one in your pic), or if a child is coming over, then I think they should be yes. It doesn't do the dog any harm and takes the owner 30 seconds.

I think the fact that they are your friends is clouding your judgement (and making my criticism annoying). Tell me honestly, if you were in some chav stranger's house for whatever reason and their dog went for you would you feel the same way? If so, fair enough and that's the end of the discussion really.

The difference here is the Dog is not hers. The owner should know the Dog is not great around strangers and warn them accordingly. I would doubt you are the first person the dog has taken as disliking too. If you were going to the owners house I would expect him to take precautions against the dog ripping your bollocks off. I would also expect him to tell anyone looking after it that they need to do the same. Of course if he has trained the dog well one word from him might have meant the dog left you alone so he did not think it would be an issue.

Either way I do not think the new law should go after Jody I think it should be aimed at people that breed and train violent dogs not dog sitters.

I don't think it is premeditated. I think he had an argument then shot her before posting that and a picture of the body. It looks like he was saying goodbye to everyone before turning himself into the police.

I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. But that's not what the new law is for...

Too right...

Funny, but left alone by its owner (like happens in most dog attack cases) that pointless little excuse for a "dog" could still chew a babies face off should the fancy take it...

I think it is. It is giving judges the power to give a hefty sentence, not saying they have to give a hefty sentence. So you have to hope like with other laws they pick the appropriate sentence for each individual case.

Could assume though that when the max sentence rises, so does the average punishment.

That's true. I suppose it comes down to having faith in the judges, however silly that may be.
