Am I the only one who just has a classic start bar installed on windows 8 and as a result avoids all the problems people complain about? For me it's literally an upgraded windows 7.

Nope, I'm using Start8, which pretty much puts me back in Windows 7 usability. The only annoyance I've found is that if I put the Computer link to be a menu instead of a link, it makes all of the sub-folders come up in the menu too, instead of just a single level menu listing the drives like 7 has.
As for the usability of Win8, it's all down to personal preference really. I tend to click the start menu and click through the folders, or click the one I want straight off if it's in the recently used bit. For me, the new metro interface just made things worse, especially with a 22" full hd screen... People who use windows differently will have different experiences though. I hate the size of the metro interface, and the way it wastes so much screen space on a big screen. If they'd just made it so metro apps, and the metro start screen, could go in windows, or have the start bit as a popup menu at the bottom left that can be resized, it'd be a lot better in my opinion. As it is, windows 8 just doesn't meet my personal usage needs out of the box, and if it hadn't been a lot cheaper to get windows 8 for my new pc, I'd have got 7 on it as I have on my laptop.

Lol, probably. it was her birthday last week, I would say she says 'Hi' to everyone, but she didn't. She is doing well, she passed her exams and has a new job because of it (for those who are interested)

http://www.classicshell.net/ is what i've got, there are others. I just saw that when using http://ninite.com/ to install all the programs I need and went for it.

Anyway I've literally just reinstalled Windows 8 and for the 5 minutes before i installed firefox, disabled IE and used ninite, i did notice how awful windows 8 is without a normal startbar

As a side rant, I trialed W8 using the free trial available on the microsoft website, decided i like it enough to buy it so click on "Activate Windows Now". It leads me on a big fuck around on the windows website until i'm told I have to download and install some software. I do that and it takes ages to scan my computer only to tell me I can't activate windows in my region. Look all over for a simple CD key I can buy: NOPE. I have to buy a physical copy, I give in and do so. It arrives, CD Key doesn't work on my version of windows, I have to reinstall a whole different version and start all over again. Worst fucking trial ever, what a shit way to sell a product.

On a side note I bought it from pc world..simply because it was on offer and I like to see what Im buying...but never again..I was exposed to the most rank arrgance and ignorance I have yet to see in retail..This fucking lumux actually used his arm to push my 70 year old mother out of the way so he could reprice the laptop at 20 MORE expensive in front of our very eyes..so I told the prick to get the manager and he went around the back to scratch his nuts for two minutes and came back and said ' thats the price' and walked off.
So at this point I was ready for the Police to get involved and I walked into the office myself and told the manager that that pillock had better stay out of my way and Id habe it at the original price thankyouverymuch..he agreed and we went to one of the desks where they ask you youre whole fucking life..so Im still at boiling point...' just sell me the fucking thing so I can leave and never come back'..then I slapped. the box on his desk and opened it up to make sure they werent giving a used pup.
Just the attitude of the staff was gobsmacking..fuck pc world..Ill come down and dance on their grave when they go bust.

Jurassic 5 is brimming with talent as you are with AIDS. Chali 2na is hella good, some of the stuff he has come out with over the years (with J5, on his own and with other artists) is incredible. I think it's a bit of an injustice that I've never seen his name mentioned on any of these "greatest lyricist" lists.

Was Cut Chemist there? I know he left to go off and do solo stuff before the group split up but I don't know if he is with them on this tour or not.

Normally I would, but she needed it asap and also the problem is that pcworld is the only electrical retailer left in the trading estate, everyone else has gone bust and they seem to be revelling in that by reducing customer service to zero.
Normally I would tell them to swivel and go next door to comet or Bestbuy, but if I walkout the door it's a 15 mile trip to the nearest equivalent.
I must be turning into Victor Meldrum, but it seems to me that all sales staff are turning into ignorant wideboys, after buying it I shot in to carphonewarehouse to see if they would do a fixed repair fee on my Note, I walks in and there's three of them chatting in an empty store, so I walk up to them, two of them give me that 'what does he want' look. and the third turns to me and says..I kid you not
'what mate?'
Fuckin 'what mate!..not 'can I help you?'
This is carphonewarehouse, not the local scrap dealers.

I find Currys even worse than pcworld for service but wont use either anymore.

I reserved a laptop for collection at pcworld - go there to be told its out of stock but currys had it.

Drive to currys - explain to first guy in the laptop section and show him the reservation - he walks off talks to another bloke for a few mins then comes back and says 'this is a reservation for pcworld!"

Tell him again why I'm there - he passes me onto supervisor.

He spends 5 mins on his computer - he passes me onto yet another guy who promptly wanders off.

10 mins later I walk out cursing loudly and vow never to buy another thing from Currys.

If it had been a one off I might have forgiven them but I had a similar disaster when it took 30 minutes to buy a TV when I went in with a reservation for the exact item.

Best way to get payback is to use such shops as a demo area for items you buy online
