I never leave the lid on when cooking rice.
Edit: with my method I use quite a bit of water. I have water left in the pan when it's cooked. And i stir once in a while to make sure it isn't stuck to the bottom of the pan

Jamie Oliver says to do this:

I never cook rice with lid on; trick is a deep pot so you can have loads of water

I use the absorption method, but have never tried it with brown rice. Change your rice to just basmati or plain white then:

1 cup rice to 1.5 cold water
In pan, lid on
Turn on electric, low/medium
wait for steam out of lid
quick stir, I use a chopstick
turn off hob
wait 10 mins
hob on low for about 2 mins only
hob off
wait again for about 5 mins
lid off
quick 'fluff' (where's @Wij ? )
tea towel over the top to absorb any steam then serve

Wow that is a lot of effort!

Fill the pan up until there's enough water in it.
Add a bit of salt and bring the water to the boil.
Chuck the rice in.
Part cover the pan and leave it for 10 or 11 minutes with the occasional stir.
Lob it in a sieve and pour boiled water through it from the kettle.

What's all this fluffing nonsense? It's rice ffs.

Ok, so I put rice in cold water. No measurements. Just lots of water. Brought it to the boil. Turned heat down. Simmered for 30 mins. Drained. Boiled water over the rice. Drained. Served. Guess what? Came out perfectly! Happy days

Never have I seen such over-complication of what is a really simple thing to cook. Boil water, chuck in rice, cook for x minutes, drain and rinse with boiling water. Half an hour to cook rice??

This is exactly what Neils Bohr thought about quantum mechanics. It drove him mad. He died a gibbering transsexual spaced out of his head on pickled fish and kitty litter.

Anyone like The Mandalorian?

Just starting watching it. Really enjoying it. Its like comfort food right now with all the doom and gloom.

This weekend I will chew through all 12 seasons of Red Dwarf :)

I enjoyed it. Certainly a shitload better than Rise of The Skywalker.

I'm actually running out of things to watch at the moment. Very little catching my interest.

Yes me too.

I discovered "Goliath" on Amazon Prime. Watched a couple of episodes and so far it's not too bad.
Also watched "Justified" on Amazon Prime. Again its fairly reasonable.
