That the fire brigade and the emergency services should take most of the blame.

It was entirely survivable...outdated and incompetent procedures sent those people to their deaths.

And even more frightening is they are still in place

It doesn't quite say that - whilst it is pretty condemning of the fire service the principal reasons for the deaths are clearly with the construction of a building that didn't meet regulation standards.

The “principle reason” why flames shot up the side of the 24-storey block at such terrifying speed was the aluminium composite material (ACM) rainscreen panels with a flammable polyethylene core, which “acted as a source of fuel”, the report claims.

Its rapid spread was also accelerated by the insulation boards behind the cladding panels and the window surrounds, both of which had combustible materials....

...The external walls of Grenfell Tower - which were the focal point of the refurbishment work - failed to comply with building regulations, the report concludes.

...that the walls did not “adequately resist the spread of fire”. “On the contrary, they actively promoted it
.

It was a cluster fuck all round tbh - but probably wouldn't have happened if building regs were followed.

Its sad I have to say this but after reading facebooks reaction to the report, obviously Im talking about senior management...not the firefighters on the ground.
'Tory bastards attack people who risked their lives' is the rather clueless reaction.

The report clearly praises the fire crews and slams the management.

Probably not as we already have a well established option on Crypto - not sure what another "standard" would bring.

I am against banning it in principle though, as I am with most things. I can see why the Eurozone wants to though - taking banking out of the control of central governments is the last thing the EZ needs - it's on life support as it is.

I live with a work environment completely overseen by Central Bank regulation every day, and its often a massive pain in the arse; but I’d still take that over Facebook being in charge of the money any day. The very fact that most of their Libra partners are jumping ship due to FB’s cavalier attitude to regulation and due diligence tells you all you need to know.

Don't disagree with any of that. But I still don't think it should be banned - if Facebook's attitude to privacy bothers you (and it probably should), then just don't use it, and use BTC instead.

BTC is the most known about tech, but it's hardly "well-established" Bodhi.

It's crypto wild-west at the moment - and Facebook's muscle combined with their privacy issues is certainly cause for concern as they're making their pitch.

"Ban" just means "isn't approved by a regulator", which is the same for any financial services product. And yes, in that context Libra should be "banned".

It's actually funny how Mr Robot is turning into reality.
Gave up after Season 1 (which I enjoyed immensely) - because someone told me the ending of Season 2. I hear it's gone right downhill?

Anyway - which bits of Mr Robot are coming true? Don't remember it being particularly crypto-heavy?

I dunno, I like it.

Basically, there's a huge financial crash, and Evil Corp brings out their own crypto-currency which takes over the state currency.

This at first look is almost beyond belief; but I can support much of the professors argument about reality , its calling it whiteness thats baffling.

This is a US college professor claiming space was invented by white people...kinda taking identity politics into the abstract.

"Evil Corp" would :)

Funny how all the money-laundering banks (including the central banks) are all down on Crypto, when it would put transactional power in the hands of the people, remove false inflationary and interest mechanisms of wealth stealing and allow value-trading decisions made at the point of sale - amongst all the transparency and instant-transactional cheapness eh? ;)
