You put the materialistic cost of a few super cars owned by rich people, over the life of a poor bloke who fucked up.

I'd say that's very Tory.

No I don’t because I’d expect the state to have the processes to stop and/or deal with the situation in the first place; the very antithesis of Tory.

Much as I dislike the insurance industry, this is what it’s for, and why we set a minimum level of third party cover. Taiwan sets it too low (just injury) and the guy took a major risk by not insuring for property (especially as he was business driving).

I get that he’s poor and is now relying on charity, but let’s not forget he also put lives in danger; it’s not as simple as “give the poor guy a break”

You park on a street where kids are playing football, one of the kids smacks it at your car and breaks your wing mirror.

Do you find the kid and get him to cough up - going to his parents if necessary or will you say nah don't worry about it and sort it?

Shit happens sometimes in life. I just think society is nice enough to realise that a rich bloke doesn't need the money whereas the poor bloke needs it to feed his family.

Not surprised with the reaction with the Tory fans here :)

Edit - also why are you talking about £40k and £20k? We're talking about people clearly going to be on 100k+.

I'm not Tory so well done there.

No we are not talking 100k+ as you said "rich" people. Is there a proper definition for that or just some random monetary amount you have come up with?

I think the consumer drone market might be facing a bit of a dent in the U.K. after today’s events
Its funny all this headless chicken brexit chaos shit, all it takes is one drone to take out Gatwick.

Forget brexit..this drone debacle is an international embarrassment...wtf, a small drone brings one of the worlds largest airports to a standstill.

Misleading headline is misleading. He just seems to be saying you should respect the result of a democratic vote.

Don't think anyone can really disagree with that overall statement, even though our definitions of democratic and methods of making sure people respect it differ slightly :)

Russia advocating democracy.

That's an interesting theory.

To be honest I've been expecting something like this for a while now. Weaponising consumer drones for extortion, or terrorism, or just for the lulz, is such an obvious development. The only thing I don't understand is if they didn't want to shoot these down because of "health and safety", why not just use a drone of their own to knock them down?

I would imagine getting a drone to hit another drone on purpose is quite hard even if the one you were trying to hit wouldn't try to evade.

I do the same whenever he posts, it's not out of unfounded fear though, it's pity, very high levels of pity.
He doesn't deserve it - he's been given every chance and feels how he feels.

1) Buy a drone
2) Strap a net underneath
3) Fly over intrusive drone, so that they get caught

Not fucking rocket science though, is it mates?

Also; are we back to discussing Brexit or are we still discussing what some lip readers thought they might have seen the opposition leader say?

Would have loved Corbyn just admitting to it.
"Yes, I said stupid woman. Mainly because she identifies as a woman and secondly because I find her stupid."
End of fucking discussion

I'm pretty sure you could see that most nights in London or Birmingham.
Hilarious that a joke based on ridiculing right wingers using a satirical stereotype of their fears is actually the norm.

But what if the bad guys with the drone send up another drone to take out the drone that the good guys send up to take out the bad guys original drone?

Seriously tho apparently that isn't an option as it will just lead to more drone sightings, and they won't be able ascertain whether it is their drone that's been reported or if the bad guys have another one.

Reading into it on another forum, it looks like an absolute nightmare for LGW, finding the people controlling it is a needle in a haystack job, in fact it might not even be directly controlled. LHR invested in some basic defences, I suspect LGW will be doing the same shortly.

For a laugh..ring up Gatwick and say you heard a drone flying towards the airport.
Then ring back an hour later and say
'Sorry..it was the wifes electric toothbrush'.

They can be flown over 4G, they cant block that without taking out the entire mobile network.
Of course thats traceable, but it wouldnt take much hacking to evade that one.

There are quite a few "Anti drone" measures available but unfortunately the law hasn't caught up with developments yet so they are not allowed.

Well at least this is a nice story, kind of easy to forget due to the accident being over 32 years ago now.
