Disagree with "biology" completely - a lot of the trauma for women comes from them being taught from a young age that they *should* be traumatised. Germaine Greer is a great exponent of this I think and she's getting panned by the metoo movement (although could do with a bit of a less old-fashioned view on trans people).I’m aware of the hypocrisy involved, where I’m dubious is this guy claiming he was traumatised, because we all know the truth here and he was 17, not seven.
And yes, double standards, but y’know, biology.
But that doesn't mean that this 17 year old lad felt pressured into sex with a woman who was vastly more experienced than him, who was I think directing a film that he was in(?), and held his career in his hand.
This is exactly what she accused Weinstein of - and said she was traumatised by that.
We're not so different. If women can be traumatised, men can be traumatised by the same thing. There's just much more societal pressure to laugh it off as a man and hide how you felt.
But what it does say - and this is what Greer is on about in that link a fair bit - is that "rape" as a be-all and end-all definition isn't helpful as it's not a black-and-white crime.
