And whoever insures it will pay for the defence, so whoever makes it won't give a shit so long as it isn't faulty. The company responsible will point to the statistics, which will demonstrate quite well how much safer automated cars are than human-driven cars. It'll point to the software which is hugely more capable than a human driver. And the case will be settled in pretty much the same manner as cases are now.
