Dublins new tram cost 100 million Euros a mile to build...370 million for a route, and apparently you can walk faster then the tram, it's causing horrendous congestion and there are sometimes 10m red light waits for it and pedestrians.
I guess its a war on the car, but this isn't good.
Andrew Hughes (24) from Leopardstown said; "I normally have a short wait at the Glencairn stop in the morning because it came every four minutes or so. But now it's only coming every 15 minutes.

"I don't know if that is because they are going to get longer trams but I would rather shorter but more frequent trams."

"I'm certainly not happy about the frequency now," he continued.

"It took me 45 minutes to get as far as Westmoreland Street which is only five minutes walk from my office," said the finance executive.

It’s its first week of operation for the new line (there are already two which have running fine for years). It’s been getting clogged up because Irish drivers are fucking morons who don’t understand how box junctions work. Seriously, driving standards here are terrible.

They key is to simply remove all public transport. It's essentially a waste of everyone's time anyway.

I mean, ROI were dumb enough to pay X100millions for whatever bollocks that they could have used to just buy people free cars and saved money but yeah, right. Trains paid for by the tax payer, 10 years before everyone has affordable AI guided electric cars, paid for by users.

Keeping public servants relevant, or something or other, etc and so on.

The EU paid for it...so us Germany and France paid for it.
The utter astounding level of financial incompetence for a mile of track in an allready built road, a few trams and some electric wires could cost 100 million Euros...so many people with their nose in the trough, and its brings into perspective our divorce fee.

Once again @Job in doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about shock. Dublin has huge capacity issues that cannot be filled by cars (because there's nowhere to put them) or buses (the middle of town is crawling with buses already) and rail would cost billions not millions (a crosslink would need a big fuckoff tunnel), and no, @Raven, waiting for automation isn't an option because its "might happen" tech that's a decade away. Even with the new LUAS (which opens up the northwest of the city to the South for the first time) Dublin is still way off the transport infrastructure the city needs.

Going all chicken little about a new service that's less than a week old is fucking absurd. It will be fine. Oh, and it was funded by the Irish taxpayer and the European Investment bank (which is a loan not a grant). None of your anaemic Pounds necessary.

"might happen" ?

stop laughing at the back!

No-one on the planet is pinning a mass transit strategy on automated cars. No-one. Because as no-one knows what infrastructure is going to be needed yet, it would be fucking stupid.

I was only pointing out the absurd cost..they could as Raven said..paid for 10 years free taxis for everyone.
You are probably talking 500 mill by the time its paid back.
They didnt widen anything either, its taking up much need road space, they have allready halved the number of trams because they are causing gridlock.

Ok, then No-one is stupid then :)

If you fancy, a genuine side bet, 200k says that in 10 years time you will be able to order an AI driven pod, probably on a subscription service, to pick you up and drop you off at the office (or chosen location...) on a daily basis.

Buses and trains and all that pleb shit will still exist ofc but you will no longer need to give a shit about buying a new car for the commute...it just won't be economically viable.

As for infrastructure, think bus lanes, which appeared over a couple of years, then flopped. Except this time they actually contain traffic (though automated)

The best thing about automated cars is they can control your journey, road neutrality will die in the womb.

Automated cars on a large scale is decades away. They may fix the logical pathways but the emotional value choices that a driver has to take will be a lot longer.

Do i kill a baby or an adult? Whos gonna be responsible for that piece of code and take the court action.

Bitcoin up to $18k and the rest of my crypto investments doing nicely.

The price of ZASH recently doubled so my mining payback time has halved to six more months.

How you making out @caLLous?

Its really hitting the papers, no one has a clue how to deal with it.
I guess once people start selling it will crash to a penny overnight.
Half of the 'experts' say its a scam, the other half say it will destroy world currencies.
Im going for very thin bubble indeed.

Ckarkson nails it really with his statement, the day the CeO of the company sits in the back of a driverless car as it navigates one of those Bolivian mountain passes, with 1000ft sheer drops, then I'll get in one.

Everything is bon, ETH has shot up since Tuesday. I wish I'd held on to my Litecoin but I exchanged it for IOTA when it was ~70 cents and it's now $3.75 so the gains are about the same.

That would actually be a relatively easy challenge for a driverless car: dealing with packed urban environments and humans doing random shit is much more difficult

I've put on 3kg in a month. I had such a slim face in the summer. Now I look like someone in a fairground mirror.

Most of it was the Indian meal I had during the week

Sod it. Going to Tesco to buy a cake

:eek6:

If you swallow hard it might dislodge that whole toblerone you had last week.

One of my mates is a cross dresser. Has an entire separate persona, puts a lot of work in to it. Outfits and shit, really impressive stuff.

Anyway he was out with my sister the other day and my sister took a few pics. My mum is going off on one, she loves it. Its like she just discovered gravity or something.

"Guess who this is?!" Etc

Yes mum, it's mark.

Nobody will make that decision. The vehicle will simply apply as much power to the brakes as is possible and steer into whatever clear space is available. Nobody is going to write "hit pedestrian to save occupants".
