I'm sure the adblockers will get around it maybe with crowd data...'is this an ad yes-no' popups.
More worrying for me is the corrosion of all privacy by Facebook...they get all your details from your friends and make your phone number identifiable.
Your name appears in a friends contact list..they grab the number and associate it with you, eventually you are searchable from that number, they are building a huge searchable directory of you, your details, habits, whereabouts and interests.
Its a frickin epic affront to humanity.

I never have put my phone number in facebook. My posts and profile are only accessable to friends i have linked to. It doesnt seem to be the periah you make it out to be.

Now if you dont manage your settings and all then thats your fault.

I'm finding that I've been withdrawing from social media recently, I just can't keep up, it's not a conscious choice. Photography alone is:

- flickr
- flickr groups
- 500px
- instagram
- facebook
- forums
- twitter
- a blog (if you have one)
- periscope - photographers are now using this to l0rd about their awesome conditions

Whenever a photographer uploads something new, there's a sort of "channel explosion" as the blog updates and then subsequently updates all the linked social media channels. It's overwhelming.

you don't need to ..any person you know who has your number and uses the facebook app will give you away..they line up face recognition names, calls ...every possible bit of info like a constant grinding private detective using a super computer to track you down, it appears as is this your number..confirm?
Regardless. they can be pretty sure they have it by also searching the entire net to find any scrap of info to line up, its terrifying.

I just use Google +. It's just me and a Google employee called Jeff now, although he hasn't said much for a couple of months. So I suspect now it's just me.

No, the missus has one for her fitness club and I'm always nosing in or being asked for advice, I won't let her put the Facebook app on my phone, of course the sneaky fuckers now won't let you see messages on the web page without loading their messenger app...they really are fucktwats.

Have to use social media for work, but for personal use I barely use FB any more; the odd flurry of activity. Twitter even less (actively, I use it passively for news etc.). LinkedIn is increasingly full of twats posting "share this if you..." links and stupid quizzes; Snapchat means nothing to me and Instagram ditto. I do use Pinterest now and again; it was handy when we were planning the house refurb.

But I'm also using fewer sites overall; I used to read all kinds of stuff, and now I'm down to 2-3 news sites, here, and i09. I still look at a lot more stuff for work, but when I'm at home I cba.

What's the difference between a woman in church and a woman in the bath...? One has hope in her soul...
