I think my WD external usb drive is knackered. Its got power, windows recognises the device as hardware, but I can't access any of the files as its not showing up in file explorer
E:\ is not accessible
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error
How do I recover my data?

How long have you had it for? In my experience, those external drives dies like flies. Specialists might get the data back if it's something of value to you.
I have a few WD drives which are years old and still going strong, recently purchased some of the Samsung 1TB USB drives for work and have been hammering them constantly without any issue.I've managed to access my drive and am frantically copying to my laptop. Might have to take the day off work
Anyone recommend something i can buy today? Have to be external usb until a better solution presents
I have a 1.5 TB My Book that has to be 6 or 7 years old and it's still 100% ok. I also have 2x 2 TB My Books, a 3 TB and a 4 TB and 3x WD Passport (2.5") drives (80 GB, 320 GB and 1 TB) and they are all ok. I have retired most of them from active duty since getting into ZFS but they all hold backups.I have a few WD drives which are years old and still going strong, recently purchased some of the Samsung 1TB USB drives for work and have been hammering them constantly without any issue.
HDD@Deebs, your work ones are they HDD or SSD?
Using the below formula in the new column referencing your origional dataset...
=IF(AND(F15>=6,F15<=9),F15,0)
You create a second data set that shows "0" for any value that does not match your critera, and its own value for whan it does.
(in my example... column f contains the origional data set, and 6 and 9 are my upper and lower limits.. the highlighted values will be different based on your sheet and criteria)
You then just "max" on your new column of data
So i've deactivated my Facebook account.
Enough being blasted with irrelevant likes and comments of friends, which I had opted not to see long time ago. My feed was a constant junk fest, browsing it was such a hassle. No more.
Oh and Yay 5 days until im on Fuerteventura.... Adults only so no screaming brats... No laptop so urgent work stuff only.... and a jacuzzi on my terrace to lay in with the odd cocktail or glass of bubbly....HUZZAH

Rubbish. It says "lightning speed" in the description...I have one of these:
Anker | Uspeed USB 3.0 2.5inch or 3.5inch SATA Hard Drive Docking Station
It has actually worked and I've recovered broken drives. It takes forever though.
You can ignore people rather than unfriending them, I have a mate who keeps posting Britain First and the other actually shared a post from Nick Griffin!! (no its not Job)
So I have ignored him rather than unfriending him, as I do still need contact with him
