So a guy who I went to school with, who rents his own house, went to a hotel in the city he lives in with this girlfriend as a 'break'

Wat.
I sometimes sleep in my bed rather than the sofa, it makes for a nice change. Although I do wake up confused sometimes and wonder where the tv has gone??

Doesn't @Deebs come down and ask you why don't you come to bed?
No he prefers it when I sleep on the sofa, it means he gets the bed to himself, also I don't get poked in the back of the neck all night from his nose

You pretty much admitted to being the female of the relationship.

I know a few couples that do this, especially if they have kids. Otherwise it is an easy way to escape cooking and cleaning and all your own bullshit. I can't say I would every do it in the same city but I get going an hour down the road just to switch everything off.

They're 22 without kids/pets.

Oh I wish. Although I'd better be getting a bloody Xmas present from Sony the amount of kit we've bought in the last month. 2 Z5's, 2 lots of noise cancelling headphones, a SmartBand Talk and a 20th Anniversary PS4 controller.

All except the controller were the missus' idea as well, either she works for Sony or I've created a monster...

As if I could afford that. Plus the guy I'm talking about went to a Travel Lodge or a Premier Inn or similar shit.

A Travel Lodge might be better than His House. I have no frame of reference.

FWIW we go away every now and again just to get some quality time without the kids (and then spend the whole time away talking about the kids), and we tend to not want to be too far from home just in case, so that means a hotel in Dublin or maybe no more than an hour's drive from Dublin.

Maybe I'm Allah at being obscure.

^ that's what your responses are like.

Get how weird it is?
I still dont get what was wrong with me pointing out that we did whatthe americans did so we dont get to call them crap for doing it? Yousaid about the americans locking people up without trial. I just commented that we did it as well.

Shrug.

Me and the mrs sometimes goto a hotel a short distance away to get waited on and have no washing up etc. It removes the need for a taxi or someone driving if we both want a drink and without all the distractions of home it means we can spend ti e together without computers and stuff.

My brother in-law took a weeks holiday 20 miles away from home with his wife and new-born. They stayed in a lodge in the middle of a forest and had a great time. You don't have to spend 2 hours driving on random roads to be away from home for a bit.

I'm not saying that.

I'm saying moving down the road to sit in a hotel in a city centre.

Holiday Inn, I believe.

With a restaurant and a king size bed. Which means he had extra shagging space and no washing up. ;)

Many reasons to go to a hotel in your own town... You can get pissed at a restaurant and don't have to pay a cab to get you home. Hotel sex, always special... and because someone else is cleaning up you can go extra nasty... you can invite other people into the bed if you're into that without them knowing where you live, film it etc without the risk of anyone recognize your home or whatnot.

Or just get away to get a change of scenery. Doing so in your own town is pretty weird though, at least go one town over.
Not saying all of it makes sense, but people are odd.

If your home town is London, every "one town over" is not as good as where you are already.
