All falling apart from the BBC it seems, they've still got metric fuckloads of money but stuff like that isn't exactly helping.

The. Losing ascot was great this year. Didnt have stupid horses crapping all over the screen. Cant wait till wimblebollox goes the same way. Dont really like the olympics either.

With so many channels these days i dont see why non dedicated sports channels have to cover sports stuff. Eurosport saying it will give free coverage. So not as if you gonna have to pay for it.

I think there are loads of great programs that the bbc do that justify the license fee. Just cause sport goes to the highest bidder.

Actually a public service broadcaster shouldnt be a highest bidder on sport.

Nothing new, the beeb can't afford to compete for any live sports worth watching.

Because its an event which a vast majority of people watch even if they're watching it cos of 'meh' same for the world cup, and as people pay for the TV licence they expect a fair share of advertless coverage of multiple events and shows.

Not just what Moriath wants.

I've come to the conclusion that you're quite selfish

Its nice to have on in the background without any ads while you do summer activities

Even if its free but with the ads it will not be on in my living room :p

Incase it makes no sense that im cokplaining about the beeb the eurosport deal covers all europe so its not just a uk licence fee issue tbh

Having aspergers means i find it difficultto see alternative views to my own. If that makes me selfish then yes i am.

Technically it does make you selfish, but then again it doesn't as it's not really your choice to be. That's quite an interesting construct really.

It's good to tell though, makes discussions etc easier with people i'd assume. Though knowing people... ;)

I want what I want too, that's just human.

The trouble with the BBC is that they can't please everyone and they have to cater for as many people as possible with a variety of programming.

If they catered to the masses it would just be (more) dreadful shit like the voice.

In the same note, if athletics isn't considered good value for money then its right they should drop it...or not bid for it.

That doesn't excuse the amount of garbage they produce though, BBC comedy for example used to be great, I can't remember the last time the had something on that was even remotely funny. Same as drama, nothing much happening there either, its not just the quality that is down but the output too. They have a massive budget and should really be able to produce some decent stuff. I think the only good stuff they do now is documentaries but even those are few and far between now.

I think the BBC has had its day really, its just not necessary any more. All it seems to exist for is to keep a few Islington media lovies in work.

I love Qi and mock the week, have i got news for you, quite a few of the documentaries. And motd is so much better on bbc than it ever was on itv.

i do find the over saturation of sporting events on one channel not good though.

Worldcup is so so. I like football. But at least it's spread over channels and not on24/7.

However tennis and olympics are all pervading. Everything else is cancelled. All the programs that are scheduled can and are pushed about if andy murry has a sniff at something and they overrun causing recordings to go off schedule.

Why dont they run a wimbledon channel for the time its on. That way ifyou like it you can watch it. If not its not forced on you by cancelling everything else.

Well I dunno, I was born with my head stuck up my mum's vagina, so it was a decent start.

Who wants to play the Daily Mail "heatwave headline" special?

Here's my guesses:

- heat causes OAP deaths, and there's not enough NHS beds for them / they're all taken by EU migrants
- Hosepipe ban flouted by Muslims / gypos / EU migrants
- heat causes out of control African native plants to grow brought here by African migrants via Calais and the councils have no money to spend clearing them out
- heat causes train tracks to melt because of cheap Chinese steel which replaced the British sourced steel
- fans sellout at hardware stores around the country due to blockages at Calais, and the big four energy suppliers increase electricity prices to cash in on extra electricity load of AC units

Anything to add??

When you watch breakfast tv on the BBC in HD and they switch to local news, they put up an animation loop that says they can't provide HD ..it just sits there till the items finished..you have to click to SD to see them....they get billions off the public and can't even get the local news in HD yet.
They don't even stream it in SD, you actually have to change channel.

Its to do with regionalising the streams in hd. Not that they cant do hd. Not a biggie. You just have a hard on for anything anti bbc atm it seems.

Must admit I'm gutted I can't get Midlands today in HD. Really makes a difference to all those times I switch over anyway when local news comes on.

I have a grievance or two with the BBC I will admit (they don't seem to be as balanced in news coverage as they used to be, and the incessant cheerleading for the Climate Change meme gets a bit tedious), but there is still plenty they do well, and sport is the big one for me. Even though I have Sky I was a bit gutted when they lost The Open as their commentary team was brilliant - Peter Alliss especially with his unique observations on what was going on. MOTD still trumps Football First for me - prefer Sky for the F1 though.

However to have a rant at them for not doing local news in HD? You have far too much time on your hands, frankly.

I think its more the point that if you have BBC HD on you then have to switch channel or stare at a blank screen while the local news is on.

What the fuck do they need...more money?
As someone quite well known in journalism one pointed out what a waste the BBC is off it's special position, respect and funding.
Where are the multi million pound programs about the Israel Palestine conflict or any other world issue that it's special position and deep pockets could expose the truth like any other...no they concentrate on utter shite to compete with ITV in a ratings war with their shite.

Very droll, but what happens is people make jokes about the Mails twist on news and then start to believe their own parody, to the point that if the Mail send On Tuesday that tomorrow will be Wednesday, people so desperate to seem 'more informed' would add on 'unless migrants get their way' and then actually convince themselves that is the sort of thing the Mail would write.

I like your thinking.

- heat causes the south east house prices to soar whilst EU...... ahhh you get it

I've not seen any SNP bashing for a while, the headlines are dominated by the-usual, so here's one:

- heat causes Scots' skin cancer cases to DOUBLE, and Engliah taxes are funding their care
