Fuck what a weekend.. Was supposed to go out friday night with the missus and some of her old girlfriends from school, but I got the mad runs in the morning and got really ill so I stayed home, as in I went to bed at 4pm, woke up at 8, took another shit and crawled back to bed. Earlier Friday I had picked up some imodium to sort out the runs and had taken the allowed amount. Saturday I wake up and my ass is like a shit fountain. It goes straight through me. And I hadn't eaten or drank anything pretty much all Friday, so I am knackered this Saturday morning, but not feeling ill so the drugs must have worked.. "You're still going to the picnic, right?" Now what was that, hun? Your family's annual picnic in the woods, where there are no toilets all while I have the runs? No, I don't think so! 30 minutes later, on the train on our way to the woods, I can feel it'll be a long day, but I am getting better. We had a good day, feeling a little ill, but no shits. Hurrah for that!

Sunday... I wish that I had the runs! I can feel a 100 year old oak log in my lower intestine, but it won't pass. Not even if I squat in the shower and shit in the drain (no I didn't, not a neanderthal). Fucking meds kicked in big time! I tried eating, drinking, 45 minute trips to the toilet trying to at least chop the log in half, but none of it worked. I was ready to head to bed, defeated. Decided to give it one last go.. And out it came! I kid you not, when that thing hit the porcelain it sounded like I dropped a fucking boulder! I even feel lighter!

Phew.. So how was ya'll's weekend?

To be fair, if someone is being threatened with a knife then you either intervene (if its safe to) or you call the cops.

If said person is starting to have some sort of breakdown, you mentioned earlier they were shouting at themselves and have also said that you have found blood in the flat, then alarm bells ought to start ringing.

It's not as if she's showing signs of either self harm or harming others. And just because she's probably highly at risk* doesn't mean he should report her to mental health authorities.

People with mental health issues are to be avoided and in no way helped. It's inconvenient and difficult. Everyone knows that. Best just keep your head in the sand and wait for them to move on. Maybe the stabbing or suicide will happen in another flat share.

Personally, I'd first talk to my my non-mad housemate and see if I could get him onside. Then I'd ask to talk to her with him present, spell out the serious concerns in a non-threatening non-judgemental manner, ask if she's getting help / point out that she probably needs help - especially with her arguing with herself / threatening others with knives.

If she can't respond sensibly then a call to whatever finnish social services / support services are available to talk over with them the best course of action.

I'd leave plod out of it as long as possible - if someone's got obvious mental health problems then getting the police involved may well not be the best course of action. However, if she flies off the handle again then personal safety is an issue and plod is the route to take.

To what end though? I can certainly go to the police, but no idea what it'll accomplish(outside of informing them that i have concerns). But if she finds out about that, i have a feeling things will get even worse.

I'd move if i had the funds to do so ofcourse. The landlord won't do anything as he's not seen/heard anything(and it's another paycheck i guess) and the one roomie she threatened to beat up is one the landlord would like to get rid of.

The real problem is that when other people talk to her, she turns into the model citizen cutesy little girl who couldn't harm a fly.
