Went round to see the old dear this evening, she's just treated herself to a new car. BMW 220i Sport in Silver with Red leather, same spec as the 3 series me old man bought for her 15 years ago.

Lovely machine, and she's given me first dibs on it when the finance runs out. Now if only I'd persuaded her to go for the M235i :)

Back when he set off on this path he was just a normal guy. There were loads of people at his 50th birthday party in the pilot.

Fair point. It's still weird to say it like that :p

I mean, is it cheaper without bants?

I'm the first to complain about nudity laws, which don't even exist, it's a mashup of other laws, but I realise they have to draw a line somewhere, if they allow public nudity with no consequence then it would be 'why can't I have a wank in public. it's not harming anyone?'

Its Inca. Or "The Inca"
Balls to that. You could say "the maya" - but "mayans" is also correct. So whilst I'm happy with Inca, I also like Incans.

Out there in internet dictionaries and actual textbooks said:
Alpacas were domesticated by the Incans 5,000 years ago...

...Fed by bountiful surpluses of maize and potatoes, Incans were free to engage in other activities such as establishing huge networks of roads

:)

er...

Not even slightly related.
Actually is. It's not a far leap from natural appearance to natural acts...

...but then I don't think most people would wank in public. But I've seen worse things ;)

Don't be daft.

Its only a leap if you equate visible flesh with sex. Which is like saying its a short leap from showing a bit of ankle to sex in public.

Why the fuck cant someone be naked if they want to. And jailed if they do. Stupid law courts.

Because living in a society is about compromise. Sure, "he's doing no harm" but society at large has set out a framework for when and where it's acceptable to wave one's dick around, and the high street isn't one of those places. I have no problem with that.

20 years from now people may have a different attitude, but I hope not, I don't really want to sit on the bus where the previous occupant of the seat has rubbed his sweaty arse crack or chlamydia ridden danglies.

Because it costs nothing to get it right and enough people walk around with wrong opinions they picked up somewhere without adding to the sum of human stupidity.
I don't teach my children the wrong information? I show them a 2 min cartoon clip to get them into the theme of new worlds and exploration. I then move on to studying and looking at facts about ancient civilisations. If they ask me for more detail I will of course tell them. At 7 we start with local geography and focus on our country as this is what is most relevant to them. We do also look at other countries around the world, but not in huge detail until upper primary.d. I resent your comment as it goes against my professional responsibility and my ethos and what I strive to do everyday.

Answer this; do you think it's ok for a grown man to wave his danglybits at kids?

What, as in grab his cock and try to slap them in the face with them in a sexual way?

No.

But do I think it's OK for kids to see naked people? Yep. No problem at all. If it happened all the time they'd get over it much more quickly than adults would...

I think he was just miffed that you were using cities of gold in the wrong context. It crossed my mind too - just because kids are 7 doesn't mean you should be OK giving them incorrect info.

He wasn't saying "you're a shit teacher".

Well, at least I don't think he was ;)

Never said anything about sexual stuff. Majority of parents wouldn't want a random beardy fella sitting next to their kids in the buff.

Majority rules and all. There's nothing wrong with nudity, or kids seeing nude people, but it can't be forced on people in a public setting.

I don't show the cartoon clip in the context of Mayans or the Incas. I show it as a fun introduction to other worlds and exploration. The kids enjoy it and then we move on to the learning! Ffs it's 2 mins of fun! They are not given the wrong facts.

Reading back - it was the 7 year olds can't distinguish between Peru and Mexico comment I think. I could. But chill - nobody's belittling your skills as a teacher....

Yes i read that, but i wouldn't call it tyranny ;)

A compromise isn't afterall "do everything i want". You have to accept that some things aren't socially acceptable as those norms are molded by a census of sorts.

In this case I find his argument for being able to be a human animal persuasive. Norms are moulded by a consensus but at the same time outliers will always exist - or how would norms change over time?

How we treat those outliers is, amongst other things, indicative of our level of intellectual flexibility. What actual harm is this guy doing?

IMO tyranny of the majority is certainly applicable in this case.

Well, as far as harm goes(outside discomfort etc to other people), you could argue the point of hygiene. As mentioned before, sweaty arse on a busseat for one.

As said, we can't all simply do what we want. You could say someone taking a piss in piccadilly circus isn't harming anyone, but you probably wouldn't support it.

Besides that i don't think you should be jailed for nudity, but if you're told to stop and you keep on keeping on against it, then actions are required.

You literally said

They are a little too young to fully understand the difference btw Peru and Mexico. They are just countries far away!

I just don't understand why you'd actually choose to give them the wrong information when it costs nothing to give the right information! Would you do the same with say, India and Pakistan if you had Asian kids in your class? Of course not.

Nope. A stand needs to be taken.

Obedience is not particularly a trait to be admired.

Do you answer every single question your kids ask you properly in full and in detail?

Try that x30.

It's why education is progressive. Why not teach 7 year olds about kinetic energy etc rather than just 'push & pull' factors?

I try not to tell them anything that's actually wrong. Of course you have to simplify but this isn't an argument about simplification; if you're mentioning a country anyway, why not point to the correct one? If kids don't know what Peru is, a few might be curious enough to find out.

Because time.

Kids love going off topic, you'll end up starting a lesson that looks at basic geography at the rest of the world and just focusing on a little hamlet if the kids get their way.

Tis about authority, if you start answering every question properly, the kids take control and they know it.

For example, when I spent a year volunteering in a class, I took over a science lesson to teach particles, I showed that video of that guy who does videos in space, who gets water, and shows it going around his hands, and then I said 'if he did the same with sand, what would happen' and they all answered correctly.

Issue is after that we went to watch him do his cover of Space Oddity, then we had a lesson on space instead. :p
