You might as well post something about asbestos based on the relevance of what is going on there (and storage of old crap generally vs modern nuclear power and research.
None really, just a remark based on your idea that all nuclear is bad
And the problem is just going to get worse. When plants are decommissioned in the future, waste will still be sent to Sellafield. ...And with a new nuclear plant about to be built at Hinkley Point in Somerset, the amount of radioactive waste headed for Sellafield may grow.
As long as we don't have the ability to deal with the waste then what else is going to happen?Nothing like Sellafield will ever happen again, you can't judge an industry by a testing and dumping ground for half the world that stopped decades ago.
Yeah, the "don't try this at home" bits... I feel that there wasn't enough emphasis there. SERIOUSLY DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.At first, I was like WTF NERD THIS IS SO STUPID
Now I respect the guy, and want to be the guy.
There is never going to be something to do with the waste over burying it or shooting it into space. But the waste isn't going to add up to a large amount so putting it in a grave somewhere isn't a bad thing. As long as we don't have the ability to deal with the waste then what else is going to happen?
Solve that problem and build shitloads of reactors IMO.
It's been said to you before but I'll say it again: 1) You can't shoot it into space - apart from the fact that it's way too risky (~5% of rocket launches fail) we simply haven't got enough rockets to remove that tonnage - or we'd be on mars already in our hundreds. 2) No deep geological storage facility has been successfully created so that's pie-in-the-sky at the moment too. There is never going to be something to do with the waste over burying it or shooting it into space. You have already made your mind up that all options aren't good enough. All I said was at the moment those are the only two options. I didn't say they were fool proof or completely safe. There are deep caverns made in the uk to deal with waste.
Exactly you ask the question or pose the problem to which you know there is no current long term solution. No @Moriath - the shoot it into space thing isn't an 'option' at all. It's just some bizzare fantasy.
The deep geologic storage thing is still being investigated but it's proving much harder than we have ever thought.
This isn't my opinion - those are facts.
Exactly you ask the question or pose the problem to which you know there is no current long term solution.
So stop trolling and accept that the amount of waste is tiny compared to the energy it produces. And the temporary solutions are just that.
Nope, it doesn't say showing your opinions is trolling here guys.
Apart from euro being worth nothing atm hehe100Eewrous from a free poker tournament. Rather nice.
