I don't even know why Rosé exists, vile stuff you can't even cook with it if someone leaves half a bottle in your fridge.

Zinfadel for the win..derided by the purists..now the most popular wine because it tastes like fruit juice and of course sacralige to the elitists by becoming popular by pandering to the unwashed.

Never heard of it!

I have some session wine ready for xmas, £5 a bottle from Sainsburys...as I tend to drink 2-3 bottles in a session I don't spend all that much per bottle. I also got 2 bottles of posh stuff from M&S for Xmas day.

UK is the prime importer of Rosé in europe, as for @Raven and @Scouse such generalizations :(
you'll find "good" and "bad" wines of all origins and in all price ranges - and sorry but saying it's essetially the same thing? A VW Up and a Mclaren are equilly essetially the same thing.

You lot are such wine racists, love wine of all colours!

Agree :D

Agree :D

That because all the "yummie mummies" drink it all day when they have offloaded their horrendous children to some poor teacher.

Funnily enough i don't like wine, very rare ones i actually like and those were the "expensive" kind that people bought on christmas or some such, but i do like ports most the time.

Just a preference thing :p

Though probably just because i can taste the bad stuff in regular/cheap wine.

I drink wine because I physically cannot drink more than a couple of beers before I feel ill, it also gives me the shits for days afterwards. Current favourite beer is Samuel Adams, bit of a guilty pleasure as it is basically chemical nonsense but I like it. I have the odd whiskey too but rarely these days.

Sam Adams is the best usa beer outside the micro Brewers. I drink vodka cause I feel ill if I drink other things to the same extent. That being to get a consistent buzz over a few hours.

There's not that level of difference in quality in wines, despite the same price-tag disparity.

A McLaren is a technological marvel compared to a VW Up. But a cheap £10 Chianti and a £28,000 Chianti cannot be told apart by "experts" in blind taste tests - because of all the industries like that wine is particularly full of bullshitters - and evidence-based testing shows them to be just that...

/Meh, to me all that shows is your own level of ignorence when it comes to wines and what goes into making them.

Believe what ever you want though, makes little difference to me.

Won't somebody think of the poor injured hats this Christmas.

A hat is for life, not just for Christmas.

Not true. That's exactly the same kind of Emperor's New Clothes thinking that the wine industry relies on to extract maximum cash.

Believe what ever you want

The evidence-based blind-taste-testing of "experts" shows that believing is the action you are performing - not me.

But at the end of the day I'm of the opinion that wine-bullshittery is almost a victimless crime - people enjoy wine and some people are really into it - just like some people are really into high qualtity audio systems that have an aural fidelity way in excess of their ear's ability to hear it.

If you've got excess cash you may as well waste it somewhere - at least it goes back into the economy, as opposed to the billionaires who stockpile their wealth to nobodies benefit. :)

Haha. Thanks @Scouse I needed a good laugh
"Evidence-based thinking"
:D

Blind taste test performed under scientific conditions.

Don't see what's not evidence-based about that. Just like when you blind-test homeopathy they find out it's bunkum...
